Taking a break from the Memphis Pyramid model (see scraps folder), I decided to brush up on my photoshop skills. (That model WILL be fully textured, after all!) I haven't posted it here, mainly because I used part of someone else's picture.

You can see what I cooked up there. I still have the .psd, with the separate layers, so I can easily swap out that shot of
BucktownTiger with one I took. Yeah, I could technically still use the one there, as long as I give credit to Abrahmlion (
abrahm ). I'm just not comfortable with using someone else's work like that though. I do like the pose, which is why I used it in the first place.
Update on the model:
Obviously I'm still working on it, even though I haven't posted many WIP shots here. In my effort to find an accurate reference for the base of the pyramid, I saw that I really fucked up on the pyramid itself. I got the scale right, but every hi-res photo on google images neglected to show one important detail. The vertical split only goes through two corners, not all four. *headdesk*

Now compare this to the satellite shot on google maps: 35.155936, -90.051915
In my attempt to correct this error, I noticed that there isn't a way to do it, without re-doing the main body from scratch. ( http://twitpic.com/3qybkq ) In my attempt to keep the polygon count as low as possible, so that it will be usable on as many computers as possible, fixing my stupid mistake resulted in what you see in that last twitpic link. Sure, I could probably fix that, but it would be a half-ass work-a-round and wouldn't look as good as doing the right way to begin with. This is the curse of having an eye like mine, for fine detail! ;) The good side to this tale, is that at least I caught it now, instead of much later when I was way into adding fine detail, or after it's release!
So, time to get cracking, and back to vectoring!
