Furthest North ( http://www.furthestnorth.com/ ), the annual furry camping trip held here in Alberta, has no such problems with noise restrictions or mundanes. We reserve an entire campground all to ourselves for the entire long weekend.

I didn't know they grabbed the whole site for the weekend. That makes it a lot better. This is gonna be on a different level though. It will be great to have two outdoor events, one more public and all-ages, and one much more private and adult.

You should think about coming out here for the photography! What we could do in a weeks worth of outings? Good stuff, you've got some serious chops and talents tend to be multiplied when brought together. Think of it this way... coin! One great picture can be worth thousands over the long haul. I've been selling a lot lately, now that I've got a lot more product in the gallery. Much more variety, but the same pictures do sell again and again.

Heh. there is exactly three hours of quiet at Pennsic. starting at just before dawn when the night revelers and parties have finally died down and right before all the early risers finally have enough coffee to wake up and be noisy.
and most all of my normal camping has been like that. with me not getting much sleep at all (something my body no longer puts up with much)

This time I have a reliable car to make it out there =D

I figure we'll be able to have all spots on the spectrum quite comfortably. The Fall From Grace event was... positively sedate in some ways! Far less rambunctious than the stereotypical media-created picture that pops into your head when you see those letters... BDSM. For this event, cameras and photography will be encouraged. We've got a great opportunity to do some truly wild lighting. One thing I'm just aching to do... I found this wild early 60's hair-dryer at a thrift-store for all of twelve bucks. It's got a wicked chrome beehive thing on the top, and later at another thrift-store we ran across these neon rings. They can be sound activated or just switched, and will look absolutely awesome as halos! Imagine the scene... the doors on the barn open (upper ones), there's smoke, noise, and the THRONE of the electro-kitty rolls out looking like something out of Metropolis. "Let the Wild Rumpus Begin!" *roar!* Awesome!

Oh! Wow! That throne would be awesome, like a cross between Metropolis, Something Wicked This Way Comes and The Lion King with a dash of KISS! (Hmm, maybe a jacobs ladder behind it? No, too dangerous, maybe a plasma circle instead; like a plasma globe, but 2D so that all the lightning is visible. Might double as a speaker.)

But I have to tell you, I have a bad feeling about this idea.
- For one thing, this is going to attract trolls, who'll be happy to take pictures and videos and use them to further humiliate Furry. Media-types, too.
- Then too, I don't know the Ball people at all, but will the Furries, (even the older ones), be mature enough to handle a real-life adult situation? Make no mistake, I love my friends, but even I have to admit that many of us are not mature enough to be childish and who knows who you'll get. You might have to lay in some hay for the Drama Llama.
- And while you're thinking, remember FOXmas. They weren't even considering a furry orgy, just not censoring adult art and ignoring public displays of affection. Something Awful told their hotel what they thought was going to be happening at FOXmas and the hotel cancelled their contract nearly at the last minute. Now you're not using a hotel so nobody can kick you out of your own place, but I wouldn't necessarily count on Hilbre standing by and doing nothing if they think the town might be involved in a scandal. You're announcing this in plenty of time to enact new ordinances.
- And if you're going to turn a blind eye to sex, you could be helping attendees spread their STDs.
- It might be a good idea to talk to a lawyer about provincial common bawdy house laws; if you're going to sell tickets, you might be violating them.

...and probably other problems that I didn't think of. I'm not going to tell you not to do this, it's your place and you can do what you like. I am saying that I really don't see this as a good idea, I believe you should think twice and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and everyone if you do go ahead with it.

These are all good points and questions to raise. First off, trolls, and you can put absolutely clueless furs in this group too... anyone who's gonna drive for over a DAY, come all the way up here and set up for camping for half a week... that's a lot of effort! No, people who are gonna be here are as usual, really gonna have to want to be here for good reasons.

Once again, this is NOT gonna be a big furry orgy! The only reason we're making it adults only is for legal reasons and liability, etc etc. That does mean it's a LOT less limited and restricted than your usual event, but no, I don't expect anything over the top.

Oh those poor FOXmas kids! *lol* I smelled blood in the air the moment they unveiled their plans and posters. "You're doing it wrong!" *lol* Very wrong! They could have even had their event had they been HONEST! Fools! But there's no fool like a young fool, really. I'm hitting 45 this year, and Theo is over 40 too, so is virtually everyone we'd be tapping for help with this. There's a HUGE difference between us and that bunch of kids.

More on legalities... there will be no "Tickets", just RSVP "invitations". There will be no "Ticket Price", only a suggested donation amount. That takes care of any "Entertainment" legalities and the bureaucracy can just kiss my furry one. ;)

Remember... THAT scene gets a WAY worse rap than ours does! You should have seen how calm the FFG event was. Positively sedate!

So is this open to any fur who is willing to make the trip or do they have to be your friends first? I'm trying to connect with more furries since my move out east. Where exactly is this happening, how many hrs from Winnipeg? I went to a 3 day furry camping/bbq event in the woods in BC before, that was pretty cool!

HEY!!! VERY pleased to meet you! Whereabouts in northern 'toba are you at right now? I think I see a few 'peg names on your friends list, been to any meets? As for attendance, it's definitely open to anyone willing to make the trip. We're running it like a large party with donations to cover costs. That way we don't run afoul of any regs regarding socials and things like that. I'm really hoping that this will become a yearly event, open to all but attracting creative people. I'll be outfitting the old schoolhouse with a bunch of sewing machines, materials, tools etc etc, and will let people have at it. It will be an adult event though with overlap into the fetish community, but there won't be anything you wouldn't see at your usual bar. Um, no, nix that, they don't often have fire-walking at your local tavern. :) It's open for photography, so that alone should keep things down to a dull roar. Yeah, I'm planning on massive visuals and inviting everyone to create their own. Example... I'm going to do a lion-taming act with my bullwhip. I'll be training a couple of athletic furs I know to sit up and jump through flaming hoops. Dig... telescopic lens, great camera, four moon-rises, moon-sets, sunrises, and sunsets to play with.

*purrs* I'm up in Thompson right now. I haven't met any furs here other then 1 so far. I Don't get to travel much as I'm here for work. Be awesome to go to an event with sewing machines, I miss mine!! Be nice to have such an active and creative event. Most meets I have go to are just dancing and computers, maybe some art trades. The fire seems like something to see, the lion in me is curious about your event heh.
