I loves me some anime (lol weabooo) but I know to keep the annoying stuff for my headphones or when no one else is home.

I had this roomate that put a song on repeat for HOURS at a very loud volume once..I wanted to kill him so hard.

my roommate put on the plants vs. zombies song. on repeat. for three hours straight.

i ask them 'hey, can you guys turn off the lights before you go to bed?'
they say 'yeah sure'
and when i wake up in the morning WHAT THE FUCK DO I FIND
every fucking light on

they're just inconsiderate, rude, and self-centered.

So then don't be all "Hey can you um maybe please possibly..."

Be fucking like... loud! Tell them that its fucking rude to blast music like that. Tell them that you don't want to hear it so turn it down.

Be more assertive with it!

plus, they would probably start a fight about it and i would probably lose; they'd all gang up on me.

You don't do things regarding behavioral change against a group, otherwise they all stand in solidarity (regardless of what you're asking to change) and use the not-necessarily-true ideal of "more of us than you, so we win". If you really want to try and change them, you have to go after them individually.

Start with the one you most like/are closest with and just talk to him when he's by himself. You don't have to be angry or anything, you just have to be honest. Something along the lines of "Hey, look, I know you and [other roommates] like anime and stuff... But its been bothering me that you have the volume up so loud, could you maybe turn the volume down next time or wear headphones?"

If he has a relatively normal conscious then he'll probably empathize and do it, possibly telling the other roommate(s) that they should turn down the anime as well. If that doesn't work, talk to the other roommate(s) individually and say the same thing. And if that doesn't work, talk to them as a group and remind them of what you talked to them about.

And if that doesn't work talk to your landlord and/or invest in some noise-canceling headphones.

Thats the best case scenario for fixing a problem like this. The internet memes and stuff, sorry, but you're gonna have to put up with that.

my roommates are watching a behind-the-scenes 'making of' DVD of World of Warcraft and I'm sitting on my laptop laughing and talking to my boyfriend on Skype.

And I got fucking shushed.
I GOT FUCKING SHUSHED.

Now god fucking forbid i wanted them to keep it down while i'm trying to do something important like fucking homework while they want to yell at each other or watch their stupid fucking animes.

i was actually happy for about two minutes and now it's just gone because they're self-centered, disrespectful, rude cunts.

I've gotten headphone's for christmas, so that I can hear my own laptop in all the music and exploding sound effects in the room. Oi feel yer pain lass.
