I don't do this often, but
orange04 makes a spectacular point about "popular artists" in this journal..

 It may not be true for all artists, and by no means am I using it as justification for why I'm always gone, but it's just something to think about when this sort of situation happens.
I am sure there is plenty of legitimate cases were artists have been stalked/harassed and withdraw because of it but I think everyone needs to get the newsflash that this is FA. The community is full of them types and if that really upsets you I really don't what to say other then "harden up". Now I can understand why such things can upset a potential popular artists and some of the journal points are legitimate. What the journal neglects to mention however is that it should be a two way street. If one wants to be properly respected, it helps if they show some themselves. I have had more then a few cases where paranoia of certain artist types has transcended plain rudeness and become downright comical. My personal favorite is one particular artist who ran screaming about trying to be "too probing" for asking a few questions about him and his style in regards to a commission for a friend. You know someone is wrong when you are trying to give money to someone and they still act like a paranoid muppet.
So in conclusion I think the journal touches on a few correct points but seems to excuse the artists of too much. Like I said, it is a two way thing and artists that treat their fans with respect are more often then not respected themselves in turn.
You touch on some valid points, and of course the journal isn't true for everyone, but it's just something to think about. It is strange when people immediately go running off or retreat based on how they're treated, but sometimes that's just something they don't want to deal with. That's for them to handle on their own terms and regrettably it's just not something that should always happen on someone else's terms.
If someone wants to do what they want, sometimes you shouldn't question it and hope to see them again.
If someone has other things they need to do, sometimes all you really can do is wait.
I don't mind waiting. I've had a few commissioners where it took a while to hear from them and receive my picture, but the great thing is that with patience, I finally heard from them, received my pictures and happily exchanged words concerning such. I suppose it's just all a matter of your experience in the matter and how many people you've dealt with.
Again, it's just something to think about and not be too overly critical on, in my humble opinion.
