Me too. *hugs* Writing helps me feel so calm. When I've finished a story like Flipper Dewdrop that really hits upon so many things that matter to me, I feel this sense of accomplishment like you wouldn't believe.

A writing job would be such a blessing, for you and me both.

Well... maybe. >^_^< Years ago, I tried taking this mail-order course thing to potentially write direct mail advertising letters (make zillions of dollars working in your spare time!!!), but I could never get into it, because the style of writing felt so forced/fake -- and more than that, I was terrified it was going to start affecting my fiction style without me realizing it. I decided then that, for me, it was probably best to have a day job that didn't involve writing, so it wouldn't cut into that creative energy. What I'm doing now unfortunately involves hours at the computer, but it keeps my editing skills sharp and takes advantage of those abilities. As long as I don't kill my hands/wrists over time. >_<

I've heard it said that the best job for a writer is a night watchman in an empty building -- anything that gives you lots of time to think and doesn't exhaust you physically/emotionally.

Of course, I'm still hoping for some runaway best seller that lets me live comfortably off my fiction. (Bear in mind, I also buy occasional lottery tickets, which probably have better odds.) >^_^<

At any rate, write when you need to, to keep things balanced. Just because you're not posting doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't keep up an activity that feeds your soul.

True. I could find a way to work writing into job-hunting. Gosh, can you imagine how much of a resume I would have when it comes to writing? I've written over 180 surrealist writings, 2 choose-your-own-adventure short stories, was published in Different Worlds: Different Skins: Vol. 2, entered at least six Anthro Fiction Network Contests, had a story accepted into the For the Oceans marine conservation anthology and who knows what else!

I'm trying, good porcine sir. I am indeed trying. 17 applications out right now. I'm trying to go for more, but finding something a little bigger than entry level is rather difficult.

Makes you wonder how to find those unusual $30,000 a year jobs instead of the $10,000 a year (maybe) minimum wage work.

Guess it depends on the line of work you're looking for. I sort of fell into mine and went the apprenticeship route, but being an electrician ain't for everybody.

True, I don't want to remove what could be very beneficial in the job-hunting process. Today, in fact, I'm in a bit of slump and not sure where to look for jobs. Gosh, I'd love to write for something, fiction or non-fiction.
