Message from the Chairman.

I'd like to extend apologies to those dealers who were unable to get a
table this year. We were unprepared to handle the speed at which the
dealers den sold out. Please apply for positions on our waiting list in
case we can expand the dealers den or openings come up between now and
the convention.
Given the interest, we will be having an Artist Alley this year. The
exact plans on how it will be implemented are being worked out and we'll
make sure to inform everyone once it has been decided.
Again, we are as surprised as you guys are at the demand for dealers
tables this year; we were expecting a few more months before the room
was full.
Thanks for your understanding,
Loial Otter - RainFurrest 2011 Chairman

How much of that does an artist need? Some of the amateur artists carry around a small notebook of examples, and another notebook to take orders, then they do the work in their room or the hallway and send an email or text message when the commission is finished and where the customer can pick it up.
What can be done for artist fees? well, either you have a token system like casino chips, so that no actual cash can be exchanged for an artist fee (tokens cashed in will be subject to appropriate merchant taxes) or... You could have a Convention Artists Guild. The main fee would be the guild application (opportunity for new convention pin/badge), followed by a reference booklet showcasing select works by artists in catagories like; cartoony, realistic, chibi, cub, novelty, etc.. And all orders would be taken through representatives of the guild, and passed on to the artists.
