Ideas, suggestions and a contest.

General
It’s been a while since I had a new journal, so I might as well make one and ask for people’s opinions and advice.
First would probably be the most general of all: art.
I’m getting back into the whole thing and have a few drawings (and ideas) to finish/complete.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that I have no bad news this time. :C
Secondly, there’s something I’ve been thinking about for the last few weeks and that would be… A contest! I don’t know if (m)any people are interested in contests without expensive rewards, but I still want to give it a try.
The idea is based on a contest made by spiralofvertigo on an previous account.
It’s quite simple, and allows for people to go crazy with their designs and ideas.
You get a description of a certain place and you have to draw a creature that could live in such an environment. I plan on expanding on the basic idea and create a whole world, inhabited by the creatures created by the people who join the contest.
There will be a contest for creatures, one for insects and maybe even one to create a landscape based on the planet we’re on. Each planet will have it’s own set of rules (gravity, weather, etc…) and several rounds will be played before venturing to the next.
An important thing to note is that this will be a –creature- contest!!!
So… there will be no furries or humans frolicking about on any of the planet’s surface. This is meant to make you think of the craziest, funnies, alien and most intricate designs you can think of.
So where does the contest part come in?
Well, every time you submit something for one of the contests, you’ll be judged by a jury and given points. After a set number of rounds, we’ll move to a new planet and the one who has the highest score will get a say in what the next planet will be like. Then his/her score gets reduced to zero and he or she is free to join again. You will be judged on design, quality and the description of the species. It means that everyone has a chance of winning, but the people who have joined will have an edge over a complete newcomer. Currently, all of this is just an idea and many things can still change. I’ll try find a way to give the winner a better prize, but the idea is to have fun…
If anyone has ideas or suggestions, I’ll be most happy to hear them.

FA+

And I still have to find a team of judges as well.
Ah well, I'll try to work it out bit by bit. x3
also, what about suns, microcosms, and stuff? <3 this sounds fun!
As for the suns, etc... those can be part (or an option) of a planet's "enviroment challenges"
Instead of drawing plants and trees, you could draw the planet's surface with planetary rings, suns, stars, moons, etc...
The idea is the mainly focussed on drawing creatures but, as said above, it's not hard to deviate a bit to get a broader view of things on and around the planet.
You may want to consider limiting participants for sanity's sake, though. You don't want twenty bajillion submissions to sort through on day one.
I don't really mind a lot of participants though, I plan on making a seperate account just for the contests and add strict rules on how to name the notes and very strict d eadlines as well. That way I can keep track of everything going on.
The main reason I won't have to limit the number of participants, is because people on this site don't often draw creatures, if ever. All they draw is furries or common animals, neither of which are allowed in my contest.
There aren't a whole lot of artists who like drawing monsters/creatures/critters, let alone enter a contest for them. XD
May be, something of a glass desert, or aqua surface.
Or even a nebula. Or a round rock with white dwarf sun - just in for something ever possible to live and have something of culture in all that mess.
Thanks for the idea, will write it down so it can be used for the contest! :3
If the contest becomes popular, I'll expand it and improve on artwork, banners and perhaps a website to keep track of the people's statistics.
For now, I'm gonna keep things small and managable. x3
I'll need at least 4 people to score each and every submission, so anyone willing to help is welcome. x3
It'll be easier to have everyone sign up there...
I don't know when that'll be though, might take some time. x3

The contest hasn't begun yet, heck I haven't even set up a new account for it! XD
Still, I admire your enthousiasm. It looks REALLY amazing!
but i have to ask one thing
exactly what does you mean with that "there will be no furries or humans frolicking"?
FA is full of furries (and humans here and there), so making something totally new is a bit of a challenge, but could be fun as well! :3
