Does anyone know where one can find a scanner that will scan 11 inches by 17 inches? Used doesn't matter, so long as it's a color scanner (and of course still works).
I accompanied
artimishunter (aka Babs) and
riven713 in their search for just such a scanner. We discovered that most scanners -- and by most I mean purt-near all of 'em -- are able to handle a sheet sized 8.5" x 11" or smaller. Only one scanner of the needed dimensions was found, and it was a monstrous chimera of scanner, printer, fax, hole-punch, staple-gun, rotisserie oven, Atari 2600, circular saw, and could also julienne potatoes. Okay I exaggerate, but it was a massive beast chock-full of unnecessary stuff, on sale for a mere staggering $150.00.
hob used his internets & found an 11 x 16 scanner for $89.00; the dimensions are acceptable, if not the price. I also know you can use a scanner at Kinko's for $1.00 a pop.
I know damned well that Babs & myself aren't the only ones out there guilty of using an artbook that's over 8.5 x 11, and as someone with a vested interest in being using my friend's stuff -- errr, I mean helping my friends out -- I was hoping that someone in FA land might be able to point the way to a sizeable scanner with a not-so-sizeable price.
Thank you kindly, FA.

This is what I would recommend, if you can't find one that will work right away. I've done that too, and it is a pain, but with a bit of finesse, you can do it.
Thanks for the reply! And the name of the scanner. I owes you an hugs (bad grammar's on porpoise). Did you find it here in Tucson, or was it an internets purchase?
I know that there used to be a wide variety of scanner sizes in the not-so-distant past, but I imagine that so many artists are working digitally now that the demand for larger scanners has dropped dramatically. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy digitally art, too--but I'm very happy that there are still holdouts of traditional media like ourselves.
Of course, things like that are rarely impediments for furries...

My old SCSI worked for 10 years, and I only got rid of it when the Win95 drivers stopped working with Win7 x64.
I'll pass it along to Babs & Alex, & keep it in mind when I go a-hunting for my own.
