Kyoo no tema wa kore desu....
tl;dr version:
Kwan messed up her knee, is on bed rest, and will be gone from internets for a while.
Howdy gang, some of you may have noticed I've not been online in a couple of weeks. I promise I'm not ignoring or avoiding anyone; I just can't get online. It's bad enough not having an internet connection at home, but right now it's just very difficult getting my corpulent tuckus to the bus-stop, onto a bus, & into a library, due to my leg being in a brace & using a walker to get around.
I had a bad case on bronchitis a few weeks back, and somehow managed to hurt the soft tissue (muscles, etc--whatever's not bone) in the underside of my left knee (I'm recovered from the bronchitis). It steadily got worse until I couldn't take the pain any more, and a friend took me to a hospital. I explained that it wasn't a bone injury, so of course they took x-rays. 9_9
I told them as long as they were doing that they might at well x-ray my right heel, since I've been walking with a cane since January due to heel pain. Turns out I have a big ol' bone-spur on the right heel. On the left knee, the x-rays found nothing wrong. The doctor said I had just put the knee under a little strain, gave me a prescription for a walker, & sent me home with some mega-ibuprofin--which seemed hardly enough to me, but the doctor insisted I had just strained my knee.
The next day I tried to get some errands done, which made my knee-pain much worse, so I went home & sat down. Getting back up off the chair was an enormous ordeal. Every movement produced agony; it took me maybe 15-20 minutes to stand up, and by that time I was sobbing like a baby. At one point I was howling; in the back of my mind I worried that the neighbors would call the police but I just couldn't stop it.
bwarroo, his grandmother, and
squawk
were semi-near and came to my rescue. I was wailing & weeping & irrational & a mess, and they were wonderful. It made such a huge difference having them there with me, to take my mind off my knee & my pain & keep me in a better head-space. They are awesome people & I'm very happy & grateful to have them in my life.
OFF we went to the hospital. I told them I had some sort of muscle or soft-tissue damage. So they searched for a blood-clot & told me I didn't have one.
At this point I was frustrated; two times in a row they seemed to completely disregard what I had to say & went looking for something else -- and I said as much. They explained that they couldn't do a thing about soft-tissue damage, so all they could do was rule out what it wasn't. That in itself wasn't very helpful, but here's what was: they gave me a leg-brace & pain medication. Both were very much needed.
Since then I've been on bed-rest, both through doctor's orders & because the bed is much higher than my chairs/couch & nowhere near as painful to get up from. I've been jumping (well, hobbling) through the hoops required from stated-funded insurance to allow me to see an orthopedic doctor (appointment is next week).
Thanks to the leg-brace, which is a simple yet magnificent device that I adore, I am at the point of not needing the pain meds so much. Which is good, because it means I can do arts finally instead of just sit propped up in bed drooling and staring at the same 30 minutes of random Studio Ghibli films over & over again without realizing it. I'm also kinda of stir-crazy & frustrated because I'm not very mobile & can't do as much as I'd like.
And I have over 3500 art posts on FA that I'm behind on, as well as over 500 journals. There's no way I'll ever get caught up, so they'll probably all get zapped unseen. If there's a journal or art post you think I'd enjoy, or you think is important, I'd appreciate it if you'd please just link me to it, or failing that tell me where I can find it (especially if a fursona has changed/been updated).
And send a little love to
bwarroo and
squawk for me, 'cause they be my heroes.

Doctors suck.
You are cute.
Getting better, thanks to the knee brace & lots of rest.
Bowhead Whale. :3
Get well soon! Love the Kwan!
I love the fendras, whatever his current form may be!
On the chance you do see this, well heck, I love you, Master. But you already hear that whenever we talk. *snuggles up against a big rat* You bring out the submissive in this domfox.
You'll get through this crap.
Also, Bwar, Squawk, you guys are great. I wish I had posted sooner about this, but I just tend to be quiet and shy at times. Shy extraverts are more common than you'd think (nope, not an oxymoron, look it up).
