Know what really grinds my gears?

It's really cool when I read that it's someone's birthday. It's fun to read how their birthday went well.
But...
Why do people insist on saying, in an online journal or forum or something public, "It's my birthday, here's what you can get for me!" as if we're all obligated to do something.
Now, a lot of people here are friends, and I talk about birthday stuff with them through notes or Email. Both for my own birthday or theirs. But I don't parade my birthday wishes and desires in public. Might as well go around and telling strangers who look at me "Hello, it's my birthday and here's what I want for my birthday!"
I admit I'm a pretty self centered person but SHEEEIIIIIIIIIT...

ENTITLEMENTS.
Denizens of today's society BELIEVE they're ENTITLED to unearned rewards. So much that they'll even sell the house and car to sue someone for what they THINK they're due. If I was President, the FIRST WORDS I'd say in my inaugural address are "The Age of Entitlement is f*ckin' OVER! Now get bent."
Why?
Because there's always someone who eventually gives something to him if keeps asking long enough.
I'm guessing he's not the only one, and the others have gotten handouts before, so they are asking again.
If no one gave when this ply was used, then no one would try it, or repeat it afterwards.
There's no problem when someone who needs help speaks up and asks, but otherwise...?
