The one where Amber totally loses her mind

I was reading some of my old m/m stuff to get me back into the groove of writing it again... my style is so drastically different than it was three years ago I almost don't recognize it any more. I mean, I know I wrote it - I remember writing it but it just doesn't sound like my new work at all.
For comparison: (and yes, this is all human content as I've not written furry m/m beyond a few scraps that never saw the computer)

(Sean Astin/Elijah Wood LOTR Era some het content) Something I consider my best work from 2005.
To anything I've posted here. *blink* Same person? It certainly doesn't seem like it. Maybe I'm just being to critical of my style... I don't know. I really actually kind of hate my new style - I wonder if it's possible to devolve one's style?
Edit: Just have to ask... is it cheating to do a totally unexpected sex scene with absolutely no explanation? I mean... it's just so hard to get some pre established in bed together... damn. Also note: I take fanfiction way too seriously. Cripes.

FA+

But PWPs are good, too.
I'll make it work. :) Or I won't and it'll be a huge blemish to sweep under the rug and look at in another ten years and go "Oh yeah, I still suck at that whole writing thing." Again, I suppose it's the pitfall of leaning on pre established characters as opposed to making the effort to play with my own.
But it's just so damn fun!
