This is one of those things where people only really care because it's animals that, by western culture, are pets. The treatment of edible cattle in the USA, pigs in the UK, veal in Poland, Geese in France, etc etc is just ignored because you don't find those animals in a ribbon tied box under the Christmas tree.
People seldom get so worked up about things that are a thousand times worse; treatment of Iraqi civilians during the Gulf war, the bombing of schools by the IRA, the massacre of Bahrain protesters.

Unless it's perceived pets, like here, or there is money involved, like the current situation in Libya, everyone is guilty of not giving a damn.

I must also point out that the treatment of farm animals in the war depicted in that video is illegal by Chinese law, and it's likely that the police there are doing something about it. Chinese police are, after all, brutal and unbending.

After reading the description, I couldn't even bring myself to watch the video. That Aspca video with the 'In the arms of an angel' brings me to tears. I hate that people do this, I mean I know that people are going to get what they want eventually, but there are humane and civil ways to do this! I mean even when we were primitive we had the decency to kill the beast before we turned it into resources.

I watched it, and I am regretting that I am. Damn right I signed this, it really does make me sick. Problem is, as someone put in the petition, we slaughter cows, pigs and lambs for our meat, so we cannot hold too huge a moral high ground.

I utterly dread watching such videos. Were it humans being skinned alive and beaten to death(never saw the contents of the video and just guessing what it may include) I'd have made it into a lullaby. Seriously, exploiting animals as if they're just another "soulless" natural resoirce for the sake of the capitalist goal- profit. It doesn't matter that China is a communist state- communists are just bigoted capitalist oligarchs in disguise. Bring in the black ops teams and mow down their government and administration, then watch the peasantry burn in revolution! That way they'll be too occupied killing human children to skin and eat animals:D

I sometimes wonder when we'll be allowed to do that too? According to a rough estimate of mine, after an imminent world revolution and caste segregation, the neo-arristocracy will eventually take up human torture and mutilation as a hobby. Aresues, there are some things so vile, contemptible, and just plain sick, that I outright refuse to watch. This is one such case. I'd be upset for days, if I did. The only way I can even pretend to handle something this awful, is to dream up lots of insidiously creative ways Karma is eventually going to kick their ass.
