Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son) is an unexpected joy. It's about queer kids, mainly a boy who wants to be a girl who is in love with a girl who wants to be a boy. It doesn't trifle with labels or identity politics or gay or straight, and that's amazing coming from the label-obsessed market of Japanese comics and animation. It just depicts kids in an incredibly confusing and innocent part of life without interference. It's so very touching and sad and moving and the first seven episodes are available streaming on crunchyroll. Oh you should watch it.
