The instrumentals are amazing. I'd love to hear it without the boring scream-gasping. I know it has a purpose, but I can't see myself ever appreciating it as a constructive accessory to the music—y'know?

No, I listened to the entire thing a second time, and I think I get it. I have to treat the voice as an ethereal instrument instead of singing to see where these guys are coming from, I assume.

I kinda like it. Of course, I'm old enough to remember when a Metallica cassette would get you branded a satanist, so I tend to not judge. I'm having a hard time thinking of that voice as an "ethereal instrument" however. More like a donkey getting a barbed wire enema.

I love the look of the band and video. Music was some of the more easy to digest metal I've come across...I really dig the whole aesthetic.

They're really controversial in black metal circles because they play in major keys, and have a basic positive/transcendental message rather than nihilism or Satanism.
