background and rp practice

So I've been working on role playing with some of my friends and all of them are great at it... while i am fail. So I was wondering if any of the people watching me were really good at role playing and could give me some advice to be better at it. My posts are general small and lack detail since im not use needed to include very much in my posts.
as for the background information, I don't feel like im including everything i should be and not bringing out the true life of my characters or their personality when i write them.

as for bringing out the true life of a character? I find RPing to be a great way to flesh out the character and learn how they should act, what they like, and what they would do in a situation.
you might also be a reactional RPer as well. you like to respond to what happens than to make it happen yourself.
I've been RP~ing for years and was terrible at first until I got a feel for it by watching and playin a bit before feeling comfortable enough to get my own style of how I worded my responses..
Give it time & stick with it, the puzzle pieces will eventually fall into place.
