From the Nintendo DS to the PS3. All current gen consoles have now been modded to play things ranging from emulators to backup managers (and I mean backups not 'backups')
Ironically, the PS3 is the easiest to mod if you haven't updated past 3.55. It's litterally as simple as copying an update to a USB stick and updating like normal. I say ironic because the PS3 uses insanely strong security. In fact the only way they were able to hack it was to get the encrypted signing keys. Because without that there was no way at all to run unauthorized software.
They could have used those keys to sign each individual software package. But they decided it would be easier to sign a firmware update that's been coded to essentially ignore signature checking. So now both signed and unsigned software can be run.
That is...IF you haven't updated past 3.55.
