Its awesome, for sure, but it makes it look so generic (i.e. like EVERY OTHER TV SHOW).
It's very NOT Dr Who's style. If the real Dr Who opening was like this, I'd call it false advertising (not to say Dr Who doesn't have its exciting action moments).
I see it as a fun combination of 2 things I enjoy. ^_^
Oh, wprl, new word!@ "Work."
Anyway, one thing that I have noticed in the New Who (at least, since the second reboot), is the series is going for a slightly Wheadonesque manner in both storytelling and in dialogue and characters. People, especially the tenth Doctor, the companions, and a bit of the eleventh, go into bouts of Buffyspeak. But definately in arc structure. Bad Wolf, Knock Four Times, The Cracks of Time, all B-Plots that flow under the episode's A-Plot line, putting clues all around while the focal adventure is going on. I mean, obviously that didn't start with Joss, but he sorta brought it back into vogue with a psuedo Light-Soap-Counter-Goth series.
It took a few episodes for Smith to grow on me, but I think now he's a pretty good Doctor. I mean, sure, my bias is leaning heavily towards Tom Baker, but, that's the doctor I grew up with and really personified the character for me, but, Smith's oddballness is certainly looking good. I was very hesitant at first with that first picture of Matt Smith they showed for the Doctor, looking all Emo and Broody. I mean, sure, Tennant's Doctor kinda ended very broody, but it was from someone who wanted to fix EVERYTHING, and he found his limit, and was disappointed in himself.
But, I'm rambling.
