It's also kinda cool that you can set a specific TIME for your auction to end, so you can be there to watch the final bidding, and you can postdate auctions, like setting it to start next week or in 2 days or so on. :D And THEY host your images, so no need to upload to a different website to get your pictures up there.

I REALLY want to start moving traffic over to Furbuy.com, I like their site so much better than Furbid, but I've been FORCED to work with them because of traffic. If this Grand Reopening gets things going again, expect more stuff of mine to be on Furbuy!

Hmm, may have to give it a look. Furbid's been a bit less than stellar lately, especially with the admin going paranoid-crazy over a number of things. Didn't seem to have these issues when Aethus ran it. Heh.

That's EXACTLY why there's going to be a Grand Reopening. Get the word out there, get people to come in and use the site, and get the traffic up and running.

The problem has been cyclical: not many people knew about the site, so few people were coming in to bid. Because of the fewer bids, less artists were posting auctions. Because there was less art, less people came on to bid. It's a vicious cycle. But if you tell all your friends about it, get the word out, tell everyone about the reopening tomorrow, that means that all next week there should be some good stuff up there, so find people and tell them about it, we can get Furbuy.com up and going and start a GOOD cycle: good art = more buyers = more artists = better art = more buyers...

And there's also the fact that, on Furbuy, your art doesn't get "lost" either, among the millions of random things on Furbid. Your picture goes on the main page display, no additional charge. That's the one thing I hated about Furbid, sure everyone uses it, but the artist just gets lost amid the flood of other artists and the only way to get your art really put out there is to pay a fee.

That's interesting, but of course there are still several considerations... primarily, the main reason you need to pay for art on the front page of furbid, is that there's simply too much to show it all, even for a short period. -IF- furbuy ever becomes as popular, it will probably need to fall back on the same measures. In the meantime, a significantly smaller exposure irrevocably means significantly smaller selection of potential interested buyers, and most likely, lower bids... unless you're literally getting NO BIDS on furbid, I'd probably advise against looking to a smaller site.

What's the search system like on furbid?

Right now the search is under development, but you can search by seller for right now, and there is an area for keywords already in the auctions, so I assume that keywords will be incorporated soon. I was kinda hopeful that Jurann would have everything stable BEFORE the reopening, but I guess it's not the case. :\

As far as the "too much to show it all", the main page previews are just randomized, so there's a different set of pics on the main page each time you load it, but there's still the fact that your preview would be on the main page, period, at least SOME of the time.

And as far as it being a "smaller site", it has the capability to be bigger if we can just get more people going there. Saying you don't want to go because it's too small is defeating the purpose. It CAN'T get bigger until more people are willing to try it out, and tell friends, and put up auctions, and get the word out, and as long as people are saying "it's too small to be worth my time", it's not going to go anywhere.

IT'S A WORTHWHILE SITE. Give it a chance. I know *I* like it a lot better than Furbid's interface. At the very least, if you're on the prowl for buying art, visit BOTH sites. At the very least then there'd be traffic, and maybe then more artists would be encouraged to pick a site based on their favorite interface instead of having to go with the only available choice out there. :(

Just try bookmarking it and checking it so often, at the very least.

Oh and I verified, they ARE working on upgrading the search capabilities.

I'll keep it in mind if I'm ever in the market - that much I will do. Sorry if I sounded over-critical...

Plus (and I'm sworn to secrecy on some stuff) Furbuy should be teaming up with some other major furry sites, too, to increase traffic and promote more business. I can't say more. All I can say is keep a look out.

Sounds good, I'd be interested, nut I'm kinda busy and the last time I tried auctioning a commission my auction was totaly ignored, Kinda made me feel bad at the time, so I'm not sure if I should try again lol
