Uncle Sam can go screw himself

So I worked for myself part of last year (self employed) and i don't understand what gives the government the right to tax me twice for the same paycheck. I calculated out everything on my taxes (they aren't that complicated for a guy who took calculus in high school) and came up with the great news that i overpaid on my taxes! I should get a refund which is of course awesome! (Also expected since I make sure that whoever is signing my checks takes out extra.)
But no, it doesn't work like that. I not only have to add everything I made while self-employed to my taxable income, I also have to pay "self employment tax" which is total BS because i didn't buy/sell anything, i didn't have material cost, all i had was my own expenses which boils down to just above minimum wage for the hours that i worked but at the end of the year i have to pay 14 FUCKING PER-CENT of every dime that i made over the course of the year in addition to everything that i have to pay just for earning my friggin money.
Now i understand that taxes are necessary to provide things like schools and police and government studies that tell us how much we spend for breakfast each morning (about $2.75 per day for me) but it really pisses me off that because I worked for myself, paid for travel, the few supplies i needed, health and workers comp insurance (Which by the way, is legally required for anyone self employed and goes straight back to the damn government anyway) and on top of all of that i end up giving 13.74% of all the money i received (Yeah did i mention that, its fourteen percent of every dime that i got from my clients, not just my profit for the year) back to them.
So instead of getting back a nice little present back from Uncle Sam for "Congrats on barely surviving another year in this shit economy, go buy yourself a chocolate bar" i get to figure out how to acquire an obscene amount of money by the time the 15th of April rolls around short of prostitution and/or robbing a bank.
SO yeah, Uncle Sam, GO FUCK YOURSELF!
