Hello, Hunter furs!
If anyone has any hunting/animal encounter stories they'd like to talk about...By all means post them in this journal. I'm sure everyone would love to hear some of the tales of the one that got away, or the one that fed your family for a month!
Or, maybe a fantasy hunt, or something you're planning on in the future. Anything ;)
Please , don't hesitate ;) !

I was up in Maine at Aroostook County doing some Moose hunting I had my DPMS Arms Panther in .308 had some Hornady high expansion rounds loaded up and for my sidearm I was carrying a Kimber Pro Carry 2 in .45 of course,
so I get out their stalk around sit for about 30 minutes with my call, nothing I moved on and went about a mile northeast sat up their between 2 bushes behind cover did some calling for about 20 minutes, nothing I finally get up and go about a half mile west towards a small stream that ran through the property I was on once I get to the stream I decided I was going to sit their and set up my rifle and do some calling thought I might get a good bull to come up along the stream, I call for about 6 minutes or so than BAM! about 100 yards up stream a HUGE! bull comes into sight I pull up my scope and I see he's massive about 180 is my estimate from that distance, I pull up my rifle take it off safe and see he's going to give me a perfect broad side shot in about 10 seconds, I'm in position ready to take my shot he moves right into my crosshairs and I take the shot. Somehow he darted he must have seen my movements, my shot only grazed him he than decided to charge at me, I don't know if any of you have seen a full sized 8 year old Bull Moose charging at you but it makes you want to piss your pants especially when your staring through a high powered scope at him, when he was about 60 yards out from me I was already hauling ass slinging my rifle over my sholder, and fumbling to get out my pistol I finally get it out but than stumble and drop it :/ so I continue to haul ass for about 20 minutes with the fucking moose still chasing me I had no idea they had that long of an attention span, I finally get back to my truck swing open the door and throw the rifle into the passenger seat I reached back and grabbed the "good ole' " Mossberg 500 cruiser out of the rack loaded 2 3" slugs, when the bull finally got within 20 yards I dropped him with both slugs just to be safe after 10 minutes I got out of the truck and new he was down for good when I examined him I used a tape measure I had I looked at it his overall rack was 194 inches. Never did find that Kimber, loss of $900 on my part
Did you keep his head, by any chance?
