Nerd time. computer building pricing
Alright, so I’m planning to build a computer lately....
something mid range, 1,500 or less.
So like, i was thinking along the lines an i5 quad core, and a p67 motherboard. other things such as a 650watt PSU and around a 570 video card. So lets run down the list.
the best companies i find around me are
Newegg
Canada Computers
and NCIX
So I thought i would run down the list of tech and see how much it would take for me to get the products and range out these three companies. (NOTE: some products are not supplied at both companies, so one from the same brand [ie. EVGA instead of MSI] or a SLIGHTLY cheaper one)
This was the shopping list
Win 7 64bit
Nivida 570 1280mb video card
8gb of ram
Cooler Master Haf 932
Antec Truepower 650W Modular Power Supply
OCZ Vertex 2 60gb SSD
WD 1TB HDD
DVD Writer
Intel i5 Quad Core
P67 Motherboard
for all of the companies, these were the prices along them
Newegg – $1350.91
Canada Computers – $1,344
NCIX – $1,476.04
Notes:
Newegg:
They did not have the same Case (Haf 932) went with one different look but same type.
Canada Computers:
They needed instore purchases for the DVD writer and case, not a really bad thing. But something to take note of. Canada computers do have a system building fee if you wish, for 50 dollars they will install all products into your machine, screw it in place and everything, But they ask for another 25 for OS install, So you can get your system set up professionally but drivers and other things are left out without a fee.
NCIX:
NCIX on their website had a incart price matcher (though matches over 20% needed to be check) with price matching was able to get it down to $1,357.90
on a plus side of NCIX they also have a building fee, you can opt in to them building and configuring your system (if you buy a OS) it's a 50 dollar fee, but slightly nice if you don't know how to configure your system fully.
So what do you think, NCIX is pricy but i can pull them down, Canada Computers are good with price, but slightly annoying with the 25 dollar fee, while Newegg will only give you the products.
EDIT:
Mail in rebates:
Newegg:
45 dollars in MIR's
Canada computers:
Couldn't tell, website lost my products rather not look them all up again.
NCIX:
NCIX had a profit of 100 dollars of MIR's highest i've seen.
