Why do furries travel?

So my buddies ziggy and nova are in cali right now. When I asked a friend why they went, they said they were visiting friends and family, and that it was the first time in a long time they'd gone when FC wasn't involved...
Somehow this shook me to the core "furries travel for reasons OTHER than conventions?!".
Gosh, those plans of remotely starting a convention in Hawaii because I've never been there seem superfluous now.
I've been rolling the thought of how I stopped playing PS2 because on xbox I get achievements,and without the added reward, what's the point in comparison? It's the same thing with this.
Pop quiz, my fellow furries:
When was the last time you did something because it's what you wanted, even though the only reward was the singular action of doing it.
AKA: When did you last pull a move that wasn't a combo?
like ordering on amazon and saying "screw super saver shipping, I just want this one $3 game, and I'll pay shipping because I spend less than $25 total"
