Computer got virus, in shop [UPDATE]

Yup. My laptop got a virus that attacked my use of the internet as well as my ability to get to a restore point to delete it. Ended up blue screening and some other crazy shit so I brought it to my school's computer repair store and am getting it backed up, wiped, and the files reloaded with the reinstalled OP (except upgrading to Windows 7). Or at least I'm hoping I get my files back. That's what the lady at the counter said.
And if I don't have my stuff back then I'm going to refuse to pay because they shouldn't be promising things they can't promise.

So I got my computer back! They said that all my files are still here with the exception of a few programs like Photoshop and stuff, which I can just re-download anyway. =)
I am going to go searching through my stuff just to double check though.

I do hope to hear everything goes well, hence why I back up things to my external hard drive every week or so now.
Again I hope it goes well, and that you are doing good yourself.
That's a rare computer repair store because usually they don't promise that you'll get your files back.

I recommend to prepare to that since they'll probably skip the back-up and say "We couldn't do it because it would've bring the virus back". Actual reason is that it's faster to just wipe it and reinstall the OS(that's what they normally do in repair stores to badly infected computers). Time is money so they try to fix the computers as fast as possible.
