OBAMA...erm, Osama is dead.

My god Obama, how do all 3 of your names have something to do with either a brutal dictator or a terrorist leader?
Oh well, he did something in 3 years that Bush couldn't do in 7. Yay for him I suppose. None of it really matters in the end anyway, the wars aren't going to end, and America will still probably be hit by terrorists.
Still, they got their revenge for the deaths of 3000 men and women on 9/11...by killing another man...fascinating the way the human mind works isn't it?

I agree here. Killing him didn't change anything. If anything, the US will be fucked up by terrorism for the next while. =\

OP
Quite possibly, as a response to the death of one of the more mainstream terrorist groups. RELIGION IS STUPID.

There's uh, this thing called morale and it's probably going to be boosted quite a bit.

OP
Sure, morale is boosted, but what do you gain in the long term? 2 wars which wont end thanks to highly paid military contractors? Probably another retaliation from terrorists, after the US retaliated to the retaliation of 9/11? The economy wont change, the right will always criticize Obama for the dumbest shit, and US citizens will continue living in blind ignorance of the world around them. Oh but morale is boosted, that's a plus I guess.

Actually uh, the Dow went up quite a few points this morning.

OP
The Dow Jones going up doesn't mean anything. That's not what governs economic status. Right now America's economy is pretty much in the shitter, and could be headed towards a major collapse any time soon. Killing Osama Bin Laden won't fix that.

No I know, but I'm saying that it spiked unexpectedly.

It's irrelevant to the point I'm making.

As much as bin Laden was only one man, he was the founder, leader, and one of the larger financial backers for his group. At the very least, it will lead to some disorganization for a little while.

OP
Perhaps, but it's not going to solve any problems. This was just revenge, nothing more.

Revenge and a show of commitment to a goal. *shrugs* But most justice/punishment has its roots in revenge.

OP
Disagreed. Most Justice/Punishment, particularly in America comes about through an arrest, a trial, and imprisonment, which is what SHOULD have happened. Saying otherwise is essentially saying you don't believe in the justice system.

To be honest? I don't.

OP
Well then I definitely disagree with you.

I just don't feel that the justice system actually punishes people, not enough to do its job of deterring crime. But that's for another debate, and I won't clog your journal with comments about that
