Song of the Day - Day 1
My body moves, goes where I will. But though I try, my heart stays still.
So, for the next forty days, I'm going to be doing a song of the day, selected from my music library. The process of selection is relatively simple, I'm just gonna set it to shuffle, hit play, and keep skipping through until I find a song that really jives me for whatever reason.
Why am I doing this? I felt like it.
Anyway, the song may be something you've never heard before or have heard a thousand times. If it gives me a particularly good feeling at whatever time of day I decide to post it on whatever day it is, that's the only real criteria.
Each day, I will post the name of the song, the artist, the album, and either embed a youtube video or post a link to where it can be listened to. Whether you chose to listen or not is entirely up to you. After the link, I'll post a little bit about the song. It may be a few sentences, it may be an entire paragraph. Comments are encouraged.
So, without further ado, todays is:
Solanin, by Asian Kung-Fu Generation, from the album Magic Disk
One of my favourite things about AKFG is their sometimes astounding ability to make a very deep, emotionally engaging, sometimes even touching song. What's more amazing is that they don't rely on lyrics to do it (hell, the majority of the time, I have no idea what the lyrics even mean unless I look up translations). Their ability to convey emotion with their music is what draws me to them, and Solanin is certainly no exception. While it may not be their most original song, it can certainly tug at your heartstrings, even if you don't quite know why.
The video is of little consequence without the lyrics, and unfortunately, I couldn't find a subtitled version of the video. Even still, it's not quite as good as some of their other videos, though it still might be worth looking up a translation for the song to keep in mind as you watch it, if you so desire (but you're not losing out on too much if you don't feel like it).

If I had more space on my compy, I'd have their discography (and porno grafitti's, too)
