Seeing Joffrey slapped is certainly a pleasure. Definitively my favourite character too and Dinklage is perfect. Not only is he witty and sympathetic, he also stands out as a morally concious character, despite his many frailties, in the very grey-to-black setting.

I know I know I know! I'm almost finished with a Clash of Kings and he gets even more well-rounded. He's among the more calculating, amoral characters but shows some of the most genuine kindness, empathy and moral upstanding in the series (his refusal to even consider doing harm to his despicable family at least so far as I read was a real shock).

Exactly, while there are more honourable characters Tyrion is more socially concious. He shows some sympathy for the downtrodden and reflects more on the morality of his actions. Maybe he's just as bad as the rest of them in the end but at least it makes him more endearing.

He's great in a Clash of Kings, I think I'll have to reread the books before the fifth one comes out.

I'm totally with you on this. Dinklage is the high point of the series for me.
