I'm a fox, but...
...how else should I be, based on my behavior and actions and your thoughts of how you know me?
I don't usually do memes, as you know, but I like this one, and I've discussed this more on LJ but not here.
For years I had a feline avatar of some sort, initially a more generic tabby (akin to Kevin in the Class Menagerie), then of course the namesake for this account. I love cats and I identified fairly well with them, particularly in being fairly solitary troublemakers who lie around a lot. I chose Cody as an avatar purely because he was my only recurring cat character at the time, and he was a lot of fun to draw; he didn't actually ACT like me.
I then switched over to a fox a few years ago, possibly the most long-lasting effect of my relationship with my ex at the time. They're not far off cats, also being cute, fluffy little mischievous brats. The fox IS sometimes called the cat-like canid. But once again I had an avatar I could MATCH physically. (And it had nothing to do with the fox's reputation in the fandom, which FWIW is not at all based on the real animal, thank you ;-p)
In addition it was a sign of a transition. I had gone from being gleefully lazy and rather antisocial to...well, at least consciously working my way out of being so. I honestly feel more relaxed and open now than I ever did in my kitty phase. Considering Cody's development in my comic, you could say I want to leave that brooding closeted aspect of me behind.
The thing is, a lot of my long-time friends still identify me with being a cat (notably, people who've not dated me ;-p). People who have known me more recently agree with the fox. So I'm just posting this here to see what you people think.

Still trying to catch up and recover, but definitely doing better!

Uh. I mean in terms of timelines. Not... oh forget it XD
Go back for a second there! 0_0
Good!
And foxes are awesome, but i'm biased.
Gosh. You are, really?
but then I've switched my fursona eight times since we've met so what do I know...
Sticking with the corgi, I guess?
lets see I was a wolf, a raccoon, a dalmatian, a Russian blue cat, a husky, a mouse, then a coyote
so okay six times not eight i miscounted... Coyote and raccoon for the longest though.
Raccoon isn't a bad match for you personalitywise, but physically? Noooooooooo...
Well I do like shinies :)
As for the rest, can't argue
*flexes*
And it's so great for you that you are not in denial! ;-D
Can't wait to hear from you again :3
I am SO not in deni--heeeeey! >.>
Ha, gotcha! Now you can have a nice day! ^.^
NOW! THAT said!
While I think fox fits you well. An albino ferret with a magical tail that creates bubbles made out of titanium fits you much better.
Because I said so.
Honestly, though, I'm quite big on the importance of avatar selection. Done properly, I think the species says a lot about a person on first impressions; introversion, modesty, activity levels, wit. Essentially the way you often can very much tell whether someone is a "cat person" vs a "dog person." Just taken a few steps further.
It probably means you're more sane than I am
I like keeping my icons chaotic.
some people do need several tryes at times to manage to be happy with their choice
personally i got no intention of changing from my black lion so far lol
i ll get you in a few months Mr Fox hehe
Bring it ;-p
You're plotty, scheming and evil, but not quite evil enough to be full-on cat ;)
(not the same one, that would just be odd!)
Does that make any sense?
So what about artists who make comics completely populated by only one species?
If someone only used one species, or genus, for their characters, I'd probably see them that way.
Dude... the male kitsune change into male humans too...
if so they wish
:3
Now now, there's nothing saying foxes can't go postal once in awhile
Just that fox pwns wolf XD Present company excepted!
well you gave me an idea for a sort of love/hate female fox that shadows prof Lu...
Female? FEMALE???
My good self, for example, has gone through several creatures, each with its own applied personality type according to varying totemic mythologies, and I still don't have a definitive answer for what creature I am.
*taps head* Maybe I should just start a zoo in here.
After all, I was a wolf for several years at first. Now I can't see myself as anything but a rottweiler. (although I secretly long to be a lion! Shh.)
Lion??? Okay, now THAT I don't quite see o.0
Glad things are getting better now
*gives you a welcome back to normal hug* ^^
Can't remember if I've told you, but I was originally an alligator, believe it or not... Then a black and brown wolf. Both served mostly as place holders for the very rare times I drew myself, back then. One day a friend asked what I'd be if I were an Anthro, and I told her I simply couldn't decide between a tiger or a wolf; she came back the next day with a drawing of a tiger with pointed ears and a wolf tail (this isn't the first drawing ever, but is by the same friend in that same time period: http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/.....Mr20Flappy.jpg ), and since then the wiger has stuck.
These days, I try every now and then to draw Rehgan as a tiger, to shake the hybrid thing, but he just never LOOKS right!
Uh. Gwuh. I think you mentioned the wolf, but ALLIGATOR? o.0 Really not your style XD
I only thought of this based on an earlier comment here, but does being MOSTLY tiger physically mean that you're more like...I dunno, 3/4 tiger? Grandma was a wolf or something?
Tigers can never look wrong
I did a fursona switch recently as well, so I know how it feels to be indecisive. I was a dragon for 5 or 6 years, never thought I would change, then became a badger lol.
MUSHROOM MUSHROOM. Heh, but I see you now have to deal with all the IM handles being dragon-based too XD
That's one hot badger, btw, LOVE the facial markings!
Also, yeah, the IM handles kinda sucks, but changing IMs is like changing your phone number. You have you let EVERYONE know your new IM and all that jazz, and I really don't want to go through that lol.
I tried downloading it last night but nothing showed up. Link expired I guess?
Plus I'm used to you being a Vulpine now so all is good :D
I however have not changed so I stay as a cat :)
Good kitty
Following ISO it seems like you shared a lot in personality with Cody, if not sheer Hulk-like rages, with the possible exception of tax season...
The fox is an interesting one, but I remember a drawing you did of the 3 different body types, all illustrated with foxes, so there could be precedent. :)
I reeeeeally think I'm somewhat more social now than I used to be.
VINCE SMASH!
You mean this one?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/98230/
If only I had one of those bodies...
Yes, that's the one. :)
Soft?? I IS HARDBODYFOXY :flex:
Let me see, you're creative, constantly busy, friendly(when not defending yourself), well respected, and got plenty of haters as well.
Using what I got there, I'd say you'd be a Badger.
Fun fact: badgers are hot, but I seldom manage to draw them. I've concluded it's partially because I am mostly a strictly black/white illustrator--badgers really need at least three tones to capture their markings properly.
Really? Wouldn't different patterns of black and white (or shades of grey) do the trick?
I will say that there aren't many beefy foxes out there; they're usually all skinny bitches. So it's good to see that for a change.
However, in my humble (and oh so viable) opinion: Accountant = Cat
...and that is that.
I DID have an accountant cat in my comic. It works, honestly. But I just consider the accounting a paycheck, nuttin' more XD
Still, MAJOR great to hear from ya again. ;-D Do take care and best of luck for ya in recovering. <=)
RUN VINCE! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!
*squish* ;-p
FUZZY!
Heh, well as I said above, NON-RL hybrids are weird to design for me.
Thankee muchly!
Arn't I a non-rl one. Well...a real one that's also non-rl. XD If you want other non-rl hybrids, I've got a few ideas. XD

You should also ask Devon about the romantic hike we had in the rain by a waterfall. As I said, I've loosened up quite a bit
Aaaaand...man I wish FA's messaging system was better. I know I owe you a PM but I wonder how I'm going to FIND it now...
Jk
Jk
You seem to hit bot to me, but I like the fox part of ya cause your still fun to chat with. No matter how a big pain in the butt you are to me. Lol Geo still loves you. *pulls you in for a squeeze*
