The Rule of Tens
Oh great, a journal about ratios. Who the hell's gonna read it?
In my time on FA, I've become aware of a strange trend which I have come to call the Rule of Tens.
That is to say, one fave for every ten views.
It seems that no matter how many watches you have, or how 'established' you are, that as long as your work holds to/around the rule of tens, you can consider it a successful piece.
Now, of course, the exact ratios vary depending on circumstances, such as that smut typically gets more views per fave than normal art, and that this rule only applies to visual art pieces (Written smut can be successful at a mere 1:50 ratio in some cases)
The rule seems to lose credibility after the 2,000th view, though, but I think at that point you could say that your picture has at least generated a fair amount of interest.
But this rule is a good gauge for people who aren't established, people who may only get five faves and fifty views. If that's the case, you're doing just fine! The direction of your art is going in a good way, and if you can manage to consistently get more than 1 fave per 10 views, then it's likely that you'll become more noticed in the fandom as a whole.
Of course, I can't really be sure how that works, accounting for amount of time between uploads, but it just seems to be a general rule. Really popular FA artists also often break the ratio for obvious reasons.
On a side note, I wonder if I should start faving the pieces of art I'm interested in coloring...

So if I have to be popular to get that adored as a god I prefer not being even existential. It's not worth if you're not nice to people or doing good things because your "excuse" it's the time and work.
And like I said, it's completely different for writing.
Also, it seems as a general rule, that out of the groups of people involved in an art (Colorists, Line artists, Commissioners/Requesters) that colorists get the fewest comments on their submissions.
