Defending Monarchy (Lite)

While rather brief in its approach, I rather like this article on the needlessness of abolishing monarchy in the name of "equality". Warning: left-wing liberal republicans may not enjoy what they read.

One statement in the closing paragraph in particular is very effective at laying down opposition to the abolition of monarchies simply because it robs people of the "right" to be Head of State:
"Government doesn’t exist to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be a President. It exists to enforce the rule of law. In that context, the monarchy should be seen as just another office of government."
Hear, hear.
