PLUR <3 FUR
soo.. just talked on the phone with my parents. they have been holding my entire life career hostage by after not helping me pay for college or ANYTHING for three years(where i had to use money i saved up in highschool, made in stock, and some left by my awesome grandpa), they paid for my housing this year(that does not include FOOD, gas, electricity, medication, tuition, and all the other expenses one has in life). so finally my money ran out and my dad and stepmom(who make so much money they could have paid for 4 years of my tuition and rent in 3 weeks of work(i know cause i know their actual wages)) said they would pay for my tuition and 400$ a month(not even enough for housing alone) for A year. if I obey a big list of demands they made, and made it very clear they would drop me at a seconds notice....
anyways.. this journal is not about that(just had to vent it)
the phone call i was with them on was where they:
1 equivilated "wearing a tail to masturbating in public." (like word for word),
2 Told(yes TOLD me) me that my professors did not judge me by my character or intellect but the fact that im a fury and would therefore not write me letters of recommendation(though Ive been told the letters my professors wrote for me were AMAZING)
3 they also TOLD me that I WOULD wear a tail to an interview, even after I told them multiple times I would never do something like that.
4 and secondly worst of all... my dad who at least isnt a bitch to me finally Freudian slipped that he thought I was fucking dogs because I am a furry.... AWESOME!
(and he is highly educated and liberal in california and has known im furry for many years)
5 and WORST of all, my stepmom also slipped secrets I told my dad to SPECIFICALLY keep a secret(primarly from her) that are probably the most important private information ive ever reviled to my father in my life...
on the good side, they think its totally within their ideas of moral (thats right I cant do "imoral things" while on their support, which is complete dependent on whos point of view) for me to be completely wasted and puking drunk... but wearing a tail isnt.
they are highly jewish and super liberal but ye they give me shit for a life choice that they think could impact my life, saying I shouldnt do it. but hey... wasnt the life of a few people impacted by their choice of being jewish? like say... 6 million murdered jews in the holocaust? its a good thing wearing my tail is a worse crime in modern times.
PS: ill probably delete this journal in a while since they activly scour the internet for proof that i am a liar/bad person

I'm sorry, but you parents are even more strict than mine (and that says a lot). I do wish you luck though. Paying for college yourself is a real bitch.

That's super fucking lame.
My mom (my only living parent) gives me absolutely no help with money or school. I'm damn near starving half the time and I'm already in so much debt after just one year of college. But she has never insulted my tail wearing, and she just giggles and thinks it's funny. I'd rather have that than money any day. She lets me be who I am, no matter what, and never judges me. That's more that I could ever ask for.
I'm so sorry that your parents are trying to replace accepting you with giving you money. It's stupid as fuck, and I just hope they can see through to you someday. We all know that you're not some creepy dog fucker.
Hell, I wear my tails and ears nearly every fucking day to school and with friends, but when I have a final, an interview, or work, I leave them at home. Just because we have the balls to wear what we like, doesn't mean we're irresponsible.

Of course, my situation is not your situation. I sympathize with yours, and am perpetually shocked by the stupid things parents can say and do. I guess, when you get older and lose your peripheral vision, it's not just a physical thing you do. In addition to a narrow line of sight, your mind tends to shrink as well. =\

Right now, you're a little frustrated. Maybe more than a little, it's understandable. Do what you need to deal with whatever emotions you've got going on, and then... push past 'em, and do what you need to do. =3
but yeah ill get through it. Ill suck it up and reclude a bit inside myself for a year until i graduate and can be free to be myself again.
god i love this fandom. it has done so much for me i cant truly express how wonderful you all are.
and no my parents make to much for me to have recived financial aid the last 3 years and they told me i shouldnt claim independent status so they could get a tax break and i foolishly trusted them. now I wont be able to this year becuase they will be helping me.

I only really came to be the guy many people like now when I moved out of their house. the last 4 years have been the most in my emotional growth that i can remember.
Unfortunately they seem completely impossible of realizing that i have changed (actually i stopped being that asshole trouble maker when i was 13 but they never accepted it, but when i left the house i now also become friendly and social) :(

I haven't told my parents anything, though I'm a bit tempted to because hiding it is a pain in the ass, especially since I've always enjoyed showing them my artwork.. However, I know that my parents would love me, no matter what I throw at them. I'm sorry you're having so much difficulty with them :/
On a side note, I've met police officers, firemen, and military men and women (including a COLONEL) that were avid furries. If you happen to know a unique interest that your parents have that may have stereotypes, ask them if they fit all the rumors that are attached to them. Such as, gamers are always anti-social nerds, or all gays and lesbians are slutty, or people that like to use handcuffs must be into serious bondage. Just because you hear some things about an interest/fetish, doesn't make them true.
You know, I work in the business industry as an Accountant and Graphic Designer, and NO ONE at EITHER of my jobs knows anything about my furry and/or raver hobbies.
