Got punched in suit at Fanime... :(
I was suiting at FanimeCon, an anime convention in San Jose. Most people were very interested and thought my suit was cute, took plenty of pictures with people and got lots of hugs. Heard several "Wrong convention" or "creepy" comments, and then out of the blue these two guys are in my face going "wow what the fuck dude, you fucking pervert! Creepy ass furry" and they punched me in the boob and then shoved past me. I'm sure they thought I was a boy, and I'm sure they assumed that all furries are creepy guys living in their mothers basements getting buttfucked while dressed up as an animal... I never have and never will do anything sexual in my suit. This was really horrifying to me. I was so stunned I didn't do anything for a second, but finally screamed after them that I was a girl and several obscenities.
Worse of all, I've always been nervous about suiting without a group of other furries before, and this has probably pushed me over the edge of that paranoia. I doubt I'll suit outside of my home without a group of fursuiters, I'm just too scared of the bad reputation that comes along with being a furry and the ignorance and violence of some people.
Blah.

Sorry this had to happen to you! *hugs*
I'd always go with a handler or something. Would you be able to report them to the con staff or something with a description?
They booked it pretty fast. I was pretty sure I'd recognize one of the guys but giving a description to con staff as a "douche baggy looking late teen with a mustache" fits a lot of guys at that big con...
Who ever hurt you should have been booted from the con... (Tell the con staff what happened, just let them know this is what is happening.)
Also, you may want to consider having a handler... I never feel comfortable without an extra set of eyes.
Just ignore the ignorant people and have fun. Just try to stay safe and smart. Don't let this one occurrence rain on your parade!
I'm so sorry they were dicks to you, though. :< *hugs*
Someone hit me with a stick in suit before and booked it before I decked them.
*hugs* I'm glad you're okay, but fuck those guys, seriously.... How is it okay to go up to a random person and punch them? -_-
*hugs*
I am so sorry to hear that people weren't floored by the detail and beauty of your suit, and treated you like poo. I really hope you don't loose your drive to suit because of one bad apple.
If anything, I wish you would have gotten a better look at them so you could have reported them. It is sexual assault.
I hope you are ok! -hug-
As for JC, the protestors come to every con above 10,000 attendees that their low wage jobs allow for and hold up signs with big letters and not so catchy slogans. The logistics staff had some fun with the protesters by parking the biggest truck they could find in front of them, and loading and unloading the same case of twenty five water bottles over and over again. They made the mistake of harassing a staff member and now SJPD has a big bottle of haterade for them, so they were only there for a day instead of the whole con.
Since they might not be back, I wanted to give them a going away present. I found their website (oh boy, that's one for the shrinks to take a look at) and they should all be receiving a veritable avalanche of ads for Viagra, knock off Rolex's, and exciting investment opportunities in Nigeria.
Last night was my first night suiting EVER, and I consider myself really lucky that it went as well as it did. No issues other than a couple tail-smacks, which I just shrugged off.
Take care hun, the bay area needs more awesome suiters like you :)
