That article was outragous. So much so my eye's twitching and the irrational part of my brain is calling for every single one of those moronic, bigoted, scumbag abusers who run and support those disgusting, inhumane, illegal and immoral programs to face a firing squad.

My rational side however is wondering why the hell there isn't a swift federal investigation into all of this and some hefty prison sentences doled out as well as the shutting-down of that entire organization...

Because anyone under the age of 18 isn't an adult and as long as the parents consent to it and its not outright abusive then its completely legal despite how wrong and damaging it may be.

This is terrible and I hold out hope that our country does as a whole try and eliminate such treatment and organizations. I do not hold any hate towards the people who run this organization as hate does not foster good no matter the situation or the outcome. I do wish things were set right from here on out though and such organizations were shut down.

That wouldn't hold up in court. We already have had neo-nazi's lose custody of their kids because it was found the 'care' of such hateful and bigoted people was not 'in the best interest of the child'. It's a very vague interpretation but essentially if you inflict emotional damage onto someone, no matter what age, you are in fact committing abuse. No I think there are other matters at play here. Perhaps they have a powerful lobby staying the hand of justice? Hard to figure.

Violence begets violence. I'm an enthusiast of history and the humanities in particular as well as a rational secular humanist, I know this concept all to well. But do not mistake my blowing off of steam for an actual call to brutality. This is how I cope when I hear about such horrific human behavior, I fantasize scenarios of a darker nature so I can relieve stress. My empathy for those who suffer is very high and if I don't release the tension in my mind then my anger will only build. Notice I said the irrational part of my brain, after all. :P

Sociopathic.

This is just another example of people trying to create their "dreamworld" and simutainiously making a profit. They prey on people's Xenophobia, and in a program telling parents that "You didn't screw up as a parent, your children screwed themselves up." they essentially try to create a generation of youth that acts and thinks exactly how they want them to; so they can no doubt turn around later in life and use the brainwashed teens for their benifiet. Even worse, they use stereotypical methods of justifying themselves, even daring to use religion as a higher, unquestionable authority in their defense.

Her story is scary and really sad.

For me, it highlights the degree to which children depend on their parents' wisdom. And how dangerous of a position kids (or teens, in this case) are in when their parents lack that kind of wisdom.

Personally, her story mostly just makes me thankful that my parents were brighter than the author's parents were.

The brainwashing starts long before re-education camp.

It started with the kid's parents being brainwashed at birth to follow mythologies for the promise of a perfect "next life" instead of learning their true power and potential in this life. Stuff like this (and worse) will increase until we all wake up and "Fight the real enemy."
