I'm trans (FtM, pre-op). Transgenderism is a LEGITIMATE medical disorder and should be treated as such. (And by treated I mean of course things like therapy, hormones, surgery, etc. not trying to 'cure' it.)

Sex is what's between your legs/on your chest, etc. GENDER is a complex idea that's been defined over the span of humanity by certain guidelines, sociological norms, and a lot of other things. You are whatever gender you determine. And because most people assume this, there aren't just two genders.

I don't think it'll ever be enough to say gender is between your ears and sex is between your legs because it's only half true. Sex needs to be tackled as something we put an identity on rather than a way of self identification. Not only that but we also have to take into consideration that sex exists in non-binary format(ex: Intersex.)

Shattering people's perceptions on sex and how they've been used to propagate gender roles in society seems to be the best way in my experience. People have an easier time understanding why the physical is fallible than trying to wrap their heads around the mental first.

i actually sincerely dont know if i qualify as trans--i consider myself male but am physically female and have zero desire whatsoever to get any form of surgery or hormones or anything. i mean, im inclined to agree that youre whatever gender you consider yourself and that anyone else being someone else's gender police is dumb, but i think everyone draws the line differently, and if i dont even know what side of that im on god only knows about the rest of humanity

Well, in Swe it's a issue that's been discussed. Should it really be classed as a illness?
Since technically, you are not mentally disturbed, you are just in the wrong body. But if it's not a illness, then it's not covered by social health care. And so on.
