"Sunshine is okay; I prefer moonshine."

I am sore and exhausted, but it was totally worth it.
I was expecting a theater when we got there - chairs, general seating, etc. The Sunshine Theater has a few chairs, but mostly it's a stand-up experience.
The opening band was a group called Paradise Lost; unfortunately, most of their sound was lost to the drums. They weren't great, but I wouldn't change the station if they happened to be on the radio.
Nightwish, on the other hand, was phenomenal. The new singer is holy-crap awesome. Completely different style and range from the previous one, but still amazing. I think I actually prefer her to the old vocalist. I wasn't expecting to hear any songs I recognized, but then they played Dark Chest of Wonders, one of my favorites. During that song, I kept thinking, this is great, but what would really be a good litmus test would be Ever Dream.
They played that song next. :P They performed it very well. The vocalist was obviously pushing her limits with it, but it still sounded perfect. They ended with I Wish I Had an Angel.
One of the funnier moments came for me before Nightwish actually took the stage; I went back to the merchandise table to see what all they had (I couldn't afford anything really, but Jessica and I pitched in for the collector's edition of Dark Passion Play), and there on the front table was a box of condoms, complete with album art on the front. What made it better was that the band kept alluding to the fact that they were selling condoms when they took a break to talk to the audience. (It wasn't obsessive, but it was silly.)
Nightwish is definitely a live band; they fed off the energy of the audience, and obviously loved theatrics. All-in-all, a very fun time, and a great way to relax after a very stressful week (not that it's over yet; I still have a test and a lab later today).
