If I can't do new, I may as well improve the old

So...for YEARS people have been bugging me to "finish" my pics. Fine...where do I go to actually learn how to use these programs and such? I don't mean colleges and stuff; first off, there is NO PLACE locally I can go, and secondly there are literally THOUSANDS of self-taught artists with shit drawing skills churning out otherwise professional-quality art AS A FUCKING HOBBY. They have to be picking this shit up somewhere, so where can I go to learn, too?

well, there are a few books out there that are pretty good at teaching people to draw, and there are a few art programs out there that people use for coloring and such like Photoshop or the coral products.

Most of them experiment, ask other artists for critique and advice, and look at others' jobs with them to get ideas on methods to try.

I could train you a little in using SAI or something in livestream or tinychat if you like. The basics are actually very important in adjusting to making art digitally. Tablet is required though, even if you do the initial sketch on paper and scan in.

Nertz. I kinda figgered I'd need a tablet. The one I have broke a couple years ago. Still, if I can get a hold of one, I'll GLADLY take you up on the offer, thanks.

you never actually struck me as the sort to do inking. i figured you were a straight pencils guy, and needed an assistant to do the inking. it's not like most every US comic company doesn't do that with their in-house teams......

You're right, but the game has changed so drastically since I slipped into my antidepressant haze back in '01 and now that I can either get with the program and join the digital age or learn to accept spending the rest of my life as a night auditor in Four Corners.
