There's no metal involved.
I'm just a mean GM. I'm heavily influenced by the old Grimtooth's Traps. Just this last week, I got sick of the party relying too much of Spider Climb. So I gave them a chasm to cross where the only safe place was to Spiderclimb across the ceiling. Except for the Greater Dispelling trap just under the chasm. Bwahahaha!
What would make a lot more sense would be creatures inhabiting the areas where 'Spider climb' is useful (eg. Cloakers, Ropers, Beholders...)
Beholders come with an anti-magic cone. Considering that they're most likely to be encountered while floating/flying/spiderclimbing, that's as good as a trap.
Also consider 'panic monsters' like Rust Monsters, G-cubes and Ghosts for adventurers to cry on.
Or best yet: A dragon spectator with an animated treasure horde (why defend my treasure when I can have it defend itself?)
