Hm, this happens to a lot of people, artists and those who commission artwork. The best thing you could do is note the admins of the sides where the artwork is posted, most sides are noit interested in supporting thiefs and will take it down, but there is no guarantee I'm affraid.

Guess you'll have to deal with every single side, I know it's frustrating and I know a lot of artists who gave up the fight. Sadly there is no thing like an internet police...

That's your decision, don't get me wrong, you're totally right about those thiefs and I also know artists who are rather successful in fighting them, but it's a never ending fight.

Did you get a written document from Dr. Comet transfering legal copyright from him to you? If you didn't then there is slim chance you can really do anything in the United States.

The fact of the matter is this: Dr. Comet owns the copyright to the images; he created the works, not you, regardless of the fact that you commissioned him to do the works. Unless you can prove that Comet transferred ownership of the copyright on the images in question to you, then you have no legal standing to ask for the removal of the images -- only Comet does.

In other words: it sucks to be you.

e621 (or other anthro/furry imageboards) is a good place to start - I see people post SexyFur images when they're not supposed to. Because a day or 2 later, they're removed because those were images from a paysite.

Another choice is to not post them at all. Anything that goes online stays online, and anything that's offline will stay offline.

He did post a TDR on E6, however, as the user above has stated the only one who can have them removed is in fact Dr. Comet, as he's the legal copy-right holder.

i had paid dr comet a whole fortune to draw those pics of mine.
My fursona (the male dragon in those pics) and the young female dragoness with the white hair are mine 'n i had give their reference to dr comet to draw them.
so these 2 reasons are making me to have rights too on those pics.

Unfortunately they don't, by commissioning dr comet you basically gave him the rights, the only one who "Owns" the art is his, the only one who can have it removed is him, unless he signs a stated legal document saying otherwise {And forging those is a felony}. All you can do is message D.C and ask him POLITELY to ask the fellas over at E6 to have them removed, but given D.C's always had a good relationship with them, I doubt it'll happen.

This is why people should really copyright their characters.

Your images were sold on Comet's latest "dragons" CDROM available only in Japan, hence some of the pointless censoring in the images. There's not a lot you can do at this point. Once the image is out there, that's it. It'll keep popping up somewhere new every time you ask to have it taken down.

At least you got your commissions. I'm still waiting on mine.

Yes, he does put his commissioned work on the CDROMs he sells. I consider that standard policy when doing business with artists, that they retain the right to display/use the art as they see fit unless negotiated otherwise. He's been putting his commissioned works on his CDROMs for the last 10 years so it is no surprise to me that he did so now. Given that Nikos commissioned a lot of art, I also don't find it surprising that he created a "Dragons" CDROM out of it for sale in Japan. It was only a matter of time before it was leaked to the rest of the world, which is unfortunate for Comet and Nikos both.

I'd understand if he sold commissions when agreed upon it with the person who commissioned that stuff, but if he and Nikos agreed that the commissions will stay private, well then, looks like Comet broke his part of the agreement by selling them anyway. And it ain't nice-if something is agreed to stay private, it should STAY private. Any artist with common sense would keep their part of the bargain.

No agreement is in any way legally or otherwise bimding if they didnt both sign off on the aggreement, and asking to keep pics to yourself and the artist saying okay isnt a binding agreement, so comet never really had anything saying he couldnt.

He sells the CD and the contents, as well as he got profits from the sell, and I believe you won't get the royalty from him.

I just noticed this and must say im really sorry, Comet just lost all my respect because not only you paid him loads of money for a load of pictures but he takes all those and makes it into a CD witouth your concent and sells them to get more money -.-

As far copyright laws go, Dr Comet, the artist, owns the rights to the pics (unless the contract between you and him specifically mentions that you get exclusive rights to it, I guess, but few artists would agree to that without a good compensation).
And with the Internet, the CD's he sells ends up pirated and the images end up everywhere.

Nothing you can do to prevent that.

What you can do, is realize you never owned the pics, but paid to have them and have them done.
Poor knowledge of copyright has led to this feeling you have of having been stolen you never had in the first place.
It's sad, but it'll pass.

It's interesting because I thought Comet created those characters himself; apparently I was wrong. There isn't much I can add that hasn't already been said. It's far too late to do anything about it at this point, and there's pretty much nothing you can do to legally go against his right to do what he wants with his property. You might argue that he is stealing your intellectual property, but like it's been said above, you might own the characters but you don't own his artwork.

Unless there is a contract involved he owns all the rights to the pictures you paid for. Its sad, but true.

As many people said, even though you may have created those characters, you practically gave some rights to Comet when he drew those pics. Still, you paid for them, and now he used them to gain some extra profit by selling your commissions for public.
Did you two have any sort of agreement that those commissions will stay private? If yes, well, bad news-you got fucked over. I lost what little respect I had for him.

Agreed 150% Forces, it's really sad to see good artists who refuse to post their work, Ka is a big offender in that right. My favourite artist, can rarely get any of his new stuff anymore.

3 years ago I asked Comet for a commission and in the bottom line of the email was clearly stated this sentence:
"Also, If you want to monopolize the use right of art, a price of +50% is added. A price of +50% is an additional cost for a customer to monopolize a right to use art. I intend to record my art in future CD-ROM and collection of pictures book, but I don't record the art in a collection of pictures if a customer pays this additional cost. ^_^".
Did you pay that extra 50%?
