Webcomic advice, please!

So I'm still working on giving Work Sucks its own, but I have some things I'm unsure about. Here's some points or questions I have. If anyone i knowledgeable, I'd appreciate the advice!
- I'm thinking of hosting it myself, instead of using a wecomic host like Drunk Dunk, or all those other comic sites (plus I'm not sure how a comic like this would really fit in those communities...)
- I'd probably use a combination of Wordpress, Comicpress
- Any ideal hosts? I heard there's some good ones for 8 bucks(ish) a month, but I'm not too savvy on this. I guess ads could offset it, but again, I'm new to this.
- Since I have a backlog of 40 pages, how far in should I start uploading? I figure maybe going up to a certain page, to give me a long hiatus perioud to work on more comics and such, but I'm unsure. I'd appreciate feedback on this the most, though I'd probably upload all of the first arc.
- What would be the best ways to get the word out of this comic? I guess an FA ad banner would be a start. I'm sure I could think of more.

FA+

there's ads every so often on here, they're pretty cheap hosting, and as for promoting, an FA banner would do really well i'd think
If you're worried about hosting costs though, like if you don't have a job or any income at all, you might just have to stick with FA for now until you can consistently pay for hosting or just join a free site.
As for advertising, FA Banner for one thing, since the target area, or at least the audience that might take an immediate interest in the comic are furries. Word of mouth always works, create forum banners to be downloaded for fans to put in their forum signatures and whatnot. If you end up getting other webcomic authors to like your work they'll probably add a link to your webcomic on their links page, if they have one, which most do. A page of their site pretty much labeled "Comics I suggest you read." That helps a bit. I've found comics that way before.
Why? Because if the company that hosts your domain and the company that hosts your site are the same outfit, then if they screw something you could get shafted twice and you'll get stuck with them. If they are two different companies, then if one fucks up you can move your domain or your site, leave them behind, and be back on your feet in just a matter of days (possibly even hours).
This is not trivial. You don't want a bad host for either domain or site to hold you hostage because they have both, and every legitimate domain host out there will give you instructions to "point" your domain to your site without any additional costs.

With that said, keep in mind Wordpress (and the Comicpress theme) come with the ability to schedule your posts. You have 40 pages? Just check the calender, choose the dates so Wordpress updates your comic M-W-F (three times a week for over 13 weeks), and it will take care of that for you. Whether you can KEEP the three month space ahead of your publishing deadline is up to you and your ability to produce.

Marketing a comic? To be honest, there really isn't a good way, just several horribly bad ones. To avoid the bad ones, you could buy an ad here at FA, set up a campaign on Project Wonderful ( http://www.projectwonderful.com/ ), and then don't forget the description and title meta-tags on your site have to be filled out so the search engines can find you easily (hint: don't just say "this is a comic;" give relevant details that you think your potential audience is looking for). Your site host will have a way for you to fill out the description tag, and Wordpress can fill out the title tag for each post.
