Why can't I be like one of you guys?

I need to stop feeling like such an isolated lurker and start trying to make some actual friends. You guys are too awesome to just faveandrun without commenting, and I want to find more buddies!
I guess what I'm asking here isn't "be my friend /wrist", but more along the lines of "how do I meet new people/furries?". I look like a friendly person, and love talking to you all when I can be bothered to comment/fave something, but actually trying to form new friendships? Hella awkward.
So help me out here a little guys. Any tips on how not to be a complete socially awkward penguin?
