You don't need to be that hard on yourself. You should probably take a break and sort yourself out a bit. I know I don't have much of a right to say this, but I'm tired of people hating themselves. So please, just take some time and think things over. You're not a "heartless bitch" especially if you're this upset over it.

I agree with Heibon.. In truth, you did what was best instead of what was worse. You took the best possible course of action, buy choosing to end it. You could've been selfish and just kept him there. You could've, just to protect him, lied to him and kept him. But no, you chose to tell him the truth. You hurt him now a bit, instead of destroyed him later by letting his feelings grow and lying to him.

You did the right thing. Don't hate yourself over it. And although it may hurt, I applaud you for what you did. It took a lot of courage that many, if not most people simply don't have.

You are being too hard on yourself. You showed that you cared for him by breaking things off with him, as odd as that may sound.

Love is a game of Russian Roulette, sometimes when you know which chamber the bullet is in, it is way too late. People will get hurt in this game and I know that for I have been in 9 to 10 relationships and most of them end with sadness. I've only had 2 or 3 that ended mutually or with me just being pissed at the person. He will one day get over it and so will you when you find the right person or if you decide to live a life a strong single women who realizes they don't need anyone else. Granted the later can be lonely unless you have really good friends. My main thought is you'll pull through and he should as well as long as nobody does anything stupid.
