Whats missing; old fanfic kids rant.

Know what I miss? I mean really miss?
Fanfiction sites.
I used to be an absolute nut for fanfictions in my younger days. i remember the old ttmffa(the tenchi muyo fanfiction archive)site. its was huge, it was a big community of writers and readers. in fact the net back in those days were full of people who actualy READ! The fandom was even huge on writing. but now? fap pics. All fap pics with no class. I have nothing against the making of even pornographic art compared to erotic art, but its just that its all the same now. how many times can you see the same wolf/fox/dragon/whatever laying/sitting/standing there with a hard on with the look of "yeah its an erection, so what?" before you get sick of it? the 5th one actually. the same thing goes for everything else out there. all the same, all naked characters, no clothing to enhance the feel, no interesting positions. The net has been dominated by people with the imagination of a stuffed turkey.
because of all this uncreative garbage the kids are getting exposed to the concept of being lazy in the brain and in taste. Its a Bic mac culture online, you rather have the shitty plastic instant fix than the good, delicious meal that takes a while. I know, because i've fallen for it.
I was watching old episodes of Gargoyles just now when I got the urge to read a fap fic. yes kids, I wanted to indulge in something erotic, but I wanted a story, so I go hunting..nothing that hasn't been untouched for years. I go to all my old haunts. Nothing again.
I miss when there was full sites dedicated to the art of word craft. even for erotic purposes, it still had class. There were such good writers back in the days too, some who are/were professional but being human still wanted to stir the erotic nature of the imagination as well as put out a fine story. to this DAY I will swear up and down an inu yasha fic by the title of 'Fugue' is the best piece of net literature that I've ever seen.
No one organizes this stuff anymore really. all the good ones are lost in live journals, blogs and other sites like DA and FA and whatnot. I miss having collected places for all the works out there, when the fans proved they were fans and did the work to put a community together and organize it.
Now I have to scrap away at the dust at the bottom of the net for the old places. now if you will excuse me, i'm going to be enjoying a trip to the 'better days' as it were. Stories await.

FA+

No need to thank me.
Sucks I know
http://www.fanfiction.net/
You've always got ff.net and aff.net, though the quality is a bit dubious. I'm sure there are some good fics hiding in there but you need to search through shit before you'll find them. The same can also be said for any fanfic site you go to, though, even LJ.
The thing is, fanfic-specific archive sites are fan-run and require work to maintain. When the fandom fizzles out or the site creator gets tired of the fandom and moves on then the site either just sits there unupdated for years or eventually gets taken down. It's easy for fans to get together on LJ and share their work that way as they don't need to know how to code a website or pay hosting fees. There are communities for particular fandoms and pairings and so on, all you need to do is search for what you're looking for and check out the communities and go from there. It certainly takes more work than searching on ff.net and aff.net but this seems to be the way the kids are posting their smut these days.
Ahh fanfiction... there are some stories I thought were awesome when I was in high school but when I go back and read them now... :\
That and the fact, sometimes I do want to find something that could be good, but as everyone here knows, that's a job easier said than done as well. Hell that pretty much applies to ...well everything in a nutshell.
One potential spot could be the Fan-fic recommendations section of TV Tropes that may help http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p.....ecommendations apart from that, I can't think of anything else to say. There's a ton of less-than-stellar fanfiction out there, one needs to find what rises above the rest, but you already know that.
I can't think of anything else, so that's that.
Until later.
