Anthrocon 2011! It was fun

So I decided to go to AC this year. Had to take a day off, 1 week before I start my 2 week vacation, in order to make it work but since when do I ask for days off anyway??
Of course, the glutton for punishment that I am, I ONLY wanted to go if I could ride there. And yep, come Friday I packed my saddlebags and went. The 400 mile ride, which should normally take 7 hours...became the 9.5 hour ride from hell. Torrential thundstorm, rain, endless construction zones, 40 minutes worth of re-routing detour...it was all there, and more. Arrived late and wet :(
Anyway, Saturday was a BLAST! Although I missed a discussion board on alternate fursuit materials that my mate told me about because I just arrived too damn late, the rest of the day still rocked. Spent time with old friends
Roochak and
Flatrat to catch up, then went to lunch with
Teh and
Dogbomb and one of their friends. Dogbomb was out of suit! Teh had skinned poor Dogbomb and was wearing his skin like a trophy!! :p
That's SO unnatural! Is it PC to wear someone else's skin while going to lunch?
We ate at Albert Henry's and Teh went off to the bar area to make new friends with fur and squeaky paws :D The food came and I carefully fed Teh through the suit - it was fun! Nom nom
Still, we were having lunch DURING the fursuit parade. Dogbomb and Teh didn't want to suit and be in the parade. :sad face: It was a strange weekend that way - people doing things you wouldn't normally expect. Just...being different.
Spent the rest of the day walking around, and hanging around, the Dealer's Room. Pounced Wyldekyttin and made a few new friends, too :waves hi!!:
Later in the evening I caught a professional photo shoot for some of the most beautifully made suits I've ever seen. I actually sat in on Uncle Kage's Story Hour - yes, GASP!! Me, sitting in on Uncle Kage. I had always previously thought that the attraction to the story hour must be a simple "Cult of Personality" - it's Uncle Kage, it's cool to watch him. No! He's HILARIOUS! No wonder the con empties out to watch him, he's probably the funniest event at the whole con. Now I'll have to catch up on the past year's story hours to see what I missed!
Why didn't anyone TELL ME that he was so funny??!
I also caught the Rooftom Drum Set. Wow! Check out the pictures - the atmosphere up there is INCREDIBLE. It's breathtakingly beautiful on the roof at night. I can't believe that some architect actually designed and integrated such a space into the center for the sole purpose...of being this beautiful. Someone is simply inspired.
Sunday I couldn't do the FurryBikers group ride...as the planner decided to do the ride in the middle of Sunday, the day most people need to leave (like myself, for instance). Spent a few hours with Flatrat and Roochak again, walked around to try to find people to meet (really, I'm friendly! Walk up and scritch / grope me whenever you want!). Ended up leaving at 3 PM, later than I really should have...but who ever wants to really leave??
Not really having PCD, more like severe lack of sleep (chronic nowadays for me, it seems). SLEEEEEEEEP

FA+

Flatrat and I came down this year thinking it might be our last AC. Funny how things change.
LOL - superhero :P heehee I'm not sure anybody else bothered to notice
Thanks for being there, I miss both of you terribly. I wish I could visit for a bit and spend some time.
Did you get to see more of the con after I left for home?
But the con was still a much needed respite from the other 51 weeks of the year.
Would like to either call you to catch up or actually go down to visit you guys. Things here have been very hectic and I barely get any time for myself anymore; my workdays, with commute, are 13-hours long. Then, once I arrive home, 5 to 6 days a week I go to the gym for about 2 hours. And, like you now, I have 3 people in the apartment as I give a friend a place to stay until he finds new digs.
Busy busy busy.
I didn't thank you for your flattering comments about me :giant hugs:
