resellers at AC

There was a table at AC selling cheap made in china pocket watches for $45 and up.
Watches that you can buy for mere PENNIES were being sold for over $45.
Ok, buying something and reselling it at a con, no big deal. But that much of an increase in price is kind of fucked up.
This kind of shit is all over etsy, I was surprised to see it happening in the dealer's den at AC.

It seems kinda of odd to sell watches at a furry convention. People can buy a watch anywhere. o__o
putting watch gears on something makes it steampunk
glue a watchface on something and it's steampunk
I hate it when gears are on things and they don't even move/mesh with other gears and don't do anything. gears are meant to DO THINGS
*puts a ribbon on top hat*
*puts on a grandma vest*
*wears a watch*
*8 gears hotglued to a gold chain*
steampunk.

glue on some watch parts. you know where im going with this.
then I would be just as bad as the watch people
curse my ethics
I will sculpt some for the table
But with safety pins attached, instead of gears... regular punk. ^v^
Cause despite my love of see through watches, I TOTALLY agree with you on that. I've found the watches they were selling for less then $15.
Someone else said that these people make their own bronze statues, and I really question that after seeing them trying to sell these watches for $45 And PAINTED PLASTIC GOGGLES for what, $60 or something?
(Though I don't mind the person on the next row selling the same painted goggles for $15!)
On Steampunk: I think people are forgetting the "Form Meets Function" aspect of it. Yes gears can look cool, but as others said plastering an object with them does not make it Steampunk-- that just makes it tacky.
