Very true. It's really hard to call much subculture fashion these days "traditional". Most of the original subcultures have evolved and overlapped with one another to the point that "traditional" fashion is not as pervasive anymore, at least from what I have seen personally. For example, Cybergoth also apparently takes aspects of the Rivethead fashion, but I'd much sooner put them in the "ravers/candy goths" area than associate them with Rivethead fashion.
Basically it just comes down to that all subcultures include fashions and people who do not follow a traditional or "old school" path.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree as your comparison is rather inaccurate. Cybergoth IS derived from the gothic subculture, both fashion and ideologies. Whereas steampunk is not relative to punk culture and is fictionally driven :>
you're right! the punk in steampunk is totally different. the word punk in older times was actually a term used to describe an outsider or oddity. this is what it refers too. Steampunk has actually existed since the writings of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. which was way before punk rock ever saw the light of day.
Exactly. :> Plus, steampunk culture doesn't really have ideologies whereas punk culture is specifically counter-culture, personal rights and individuality :>
