When it rains...

Alright. So, let's not panic. *deep breaths* I know kitties can die because of upper respiratory infections, but she won't.

*sigh* I hadn't really took much note of her random sneezes at first(cuz they were very few and very far between, and could easily be explained by sniffing in dust or something), but last night I noticed her trembling. Nothing as simple as shivering, like she was cold, but like, some real trembling.

So, I called a vet, got an appointment and they told me the earliest they could get me in was Aug. 4th.

But that is stupid, so I got my pepe(grandpa) to call them and make it better. Which he did, and now the appointment is for July 20th.

But after Taco, I'm not gonna take any chances. Up here in Maine, people close their stuff early, so I have to wait till tomorrow morning to call another vet, but I'm gonna. I think she'll be okay, but she must be awfully miserable today. She's stuck by my side more than usual, and often falls asleep by my side if I stop moving for a second. Imma let her rest, but the good news is that she gets up to use the litterbox and eat and drink, so she isn't REALLY miserable. XP

Keep her hydrated for sure! That would be the one thing that can kill and that cats will stop doing if they get sick enough. Does she have a "bubbly" breathing...meaning does it sound like she is gargling or breathing through bubbles? Are her eyes draining green gunk? Are her ears clear and is she drooling at all? My cat coughs and sneezes a good bit all year around and our vet says that it is allergies that keep her doing it. He also said that as long as eyes are clear and breathing doesn't sound gargled that everything would be okay.

Her breathing is sometimes bubbly, but not always(and by that, I mean maybe one or two bubbly breaths for like, every six hours, but then back to normal), but the rest is a no. No green junk in the eyes, no drooling, and her ears seem okay. I've heard the vet is gonna do something to drain out her sinuses, and she actually seems to know what she is doing, cuz she's drinking a whole lot more than she had been.

Its good your kitty is drinking but drinking a lot can mean that something more than allergies is indeed wrong. This is disgusting but keep track of your kitty and when it pees/poos. Is the poo real loose or is it normal? And what is the color. It kinda sounds like she might have a small cold but not sure if it is something that is life threatening at this point. How old is your kitty? How much does it weigh?

She's small, and yeah, I keep track of poo. I've had sick babies more than once before :( But so far so good on that too. Just like normal. Poop is the same as normal, same color, and she goes about the same amount as before. We THINK she is around 13 weeks, but only cuz that is what we were told, but she looks bigger than this. I got her from an... unreliable source, because they were going to kill her in a cruel manner because they couldn't control her, so this is most likely her first vet trip ever. We don't know much about her other than that she is a bengal.

She could be suffering from something that has nothing to do with a UTI. I hate to say that but I have had it happen to kittens that weren't well taken care of when they were with mom. I don't suppose you have sifted through poo to see if she has any worms in it? Also another thing I was thinking was about an internal parasite that is taking the nutrients from her food and leaving her without enough energy and such to have a good immune system.

A vet check is in order ASAP for sure. Especially if it is her first vet visit and her home before you didn't really take care of her. Keep me/us updated. Look for a new vet tomorrow morning even if it is the only time you go to them. Need to find someone that has experience with kittens overall or a cat specialist. Just so they can check on those tremors.

Which is another thing...how often does she tremor and is it any one part of her body or her entire body all at once? Does the tremor seem to travel down her body? And how long do they last? Does she do them in her sleep?

I haven't looked into that yet, but I will. And her tremors are like... well they look like chills. Her back and legs and stuff tremble and yeah, when she sleeps is when it's the worst.

You know I get the shivers when I have a fever...sort of like the chills. Maybe she is sleeping right beside you for warmth. You might consider having some sort of heating pad set on low with a nice comfy blanket on top of it for her. Just a random thought. Now I wish I could remember the normal temperature of a cat...but I know it is suppose to run a bit higher than a person.

I heard it is about 100 degrees, only two degrees or so above a human temp. I generally put a blanket on top of her when she sleeps. Just what I usually do, since she seems to enjoy it. She normally sleeps on the fuzzy blanket on my bed with me too, so she's got a fairly soft and warm place to lay :>

She's actually looking and acting a little better today, and I got an appointment at another vet for today at 3:15. :>

Aug 4th? What the heck kind of crappy vet has you come in a MONTH after trying to make an appointment? My vet has to deal with me quite a bit and has never tried to pull that kind of crap on me. I'm in there either that day or next day if I made my appointment close to closing time. >:[ Geez. Especially for a case like yours where time is sensitive.

I hope your kitty ends up okay, if I were you I would definitely try to locate another vet office very early tomorrow morning.

I'm gonna wake up early to call up people in the area. I'm new to the area and this is only my second pet on my own, so I'm kind of lost as hell, but I can't... wait. If you catch this early on, it can be treated rather easily, but it can also kill her. :(
