i have built in 2 of these in my server as system drive ( one is main and one is automaticly boot when the first has an error or break XD !

never put porn or any personal info on a ss drive as it is nearly impossible to over right or delete said data

Makes my 120GB crucial SSD seem tiny, haha. And even mine cost an arm and a leg. Can't ever go back though. After putting one's OS and apps on an SSD, I can't even think of HDD's as anything more than media storage now.

ya my best advice would be to 1. make sure to get an OS that supports efficient SSD i/o operations (sorry XP, you're out!) and 2. If at all possible try to avoid stuff that uses a lot of random access to write files because that will make it slowww over time

refining 2. Unneccessary access, including random access to write on files when the program can run a thing in read-only (for example, programs that keep a file handle open and continuously write to a file for some random feature which isn't even very useful). Random access certainly beats sequential access for programs that write large files -- sequential access would be far worse because if you changed 1 byte in a big file it would just wipe the whole set of blocks for the file on disk 8C

So I guess the big offenders for that would be things that write big files -- don't use the SSD for movie encoding your latest project files, don't use it with crappy DAW's, etc..

Well thus far I have my OS on there, I have set so that pictures, music and downloads all go onto my standard HDD, I have also put my most frequently played games and boot up programs on the SSD, thats about all I will probably put on there! Still got 170Gb free on it :)
