When Talking About Fetishes...

Mildy ranty-type stuff ahead. Just kind of a verbalizing(or like... typing out...) of thoughts. Not really looking for arguments please. Not this time. JUST SAYIN.
Don't you think it's rude and cruel to label something as 'fucked-up', even if it sort of is? I mean honestly, most people with those fetishes don't act on it, and I think it's kind of a bitch move.

I mean, there are a lot of fetishes I dislike or don't agree with, and while I may say "ew gross", I'm not going to BOLD IT and put it on someone else's journal about opinions and say "IT'S NOT FUNNY OR SEXY."
BTW, this journal isn't about vore, that's just a good example of a fetish some people may say that about. It just bothers me when someone says something is 'fucked up' just cuz they don't like it. It's just like the people who I'm like "OMG, I'm getting sushi! <3" to and they respond with "Gross, fish are so gross, how can you like it? It smells bad and you can never tell if it's gone bad cuz it's grooooss".
I mean, I didn't say "yay, I'm getting food I like" to get your opinion on something I love, and it kind of makes me upset to hear that I can't even talk about fish with you without you wrinkling your nose and expressing how totally unsavory it is. Just like how I would never go onto a post asking what kinds of food you like and you don't like and then respond with "OMG FISH IS SO SICK AND WRONG HOW CAN ANYONE EAT FISH?"
I dunno, it just bothers me. I don't think I'm fucked up. I think I'm a perfectly rational, sane, easy-to-get-along-with person, at least last time I checked I was. And last time I checked, when people asked for a list "do"s and "don't"s, they aren't asking for "Oh, and put an asterisk by the ones who you think should die because they like it" e.e

My philosophy is live and let live, so long as others do the same for you. It's all about mutual respect. Is that REALLY so hard? You can disagree with things without being an asshole about it.

Some people are too opinionated, to the point that they think everyone should think the way they think,
or that everyone, at least, should know what they think because it's all that matters. Everyone's got

are those that just expect it and condone it, just because of the 'anonymity' of the internet. We're still people immersed

On the internet, people are allowed to say whatever they want. It's their right. You don't have to like it, but it's a freedom we ALL enjoy. People say some pretty offense shit, yeah, but you know how you get around that? You move on.
People are entitled to think certain this are revolting, and it's not fair to say they shouldn't express their opinions. Especially on the internet- posting on the internet opens people to EVERY sort of opinion another person has. The only sure-fire way to avoid it here is to NOT be on the internet. Or to lighten up.
I like gore. I know I'm fucked up for it, but I don't care. People wanna tell me I am, they can. At the same time, I can tell them they're fucked up for fapping to people playing Munchkin inside of a 7-foot tall cock.
There's expressing your own opinions and then there's being rude. Of course you're allowed to say whatever you want anywhere (within the constraints of libel and slander laws, of course). You do have the right to free speech. But that doesn't mean people need to be rude or hateful to others. In my opinion, if some one wants to rant about how much they hate a fetish, they should make their own journal for it. It's still out there on the interwebs for all to see, but they're being tactful and not shoving it in some one's face. You're allowed to hate others all you want. But please, let's get back some of the tact and civility the internet has destroyed and stop flaming everyone in an attempt to bring them down make ourselves feel internet superior.
I admit I don't "get" vore, but there are plenty of furries I know who like it. Kiddie/cub porn is different though.
That said I'd be wary of anyone with 5 pages of kidnap-rape-torture-murder porn. >.>
see, my opinion is that no matter what you are into even if you think its "normal" there is someone out there thats thinks its gross. and just cause your not into it and you thinks its gross, doesnt mean its "freaky", "weird" or "wrong". its just what they are into and you dont understand it. i try to find out why people like a certain fetish so i try to look them all up and stuff. doesnt mean i like them but if you take the time to understand it, it becomes less weird.
one thing that made me think about it was when someone was saying what they were into they said something like "i like herms and huge tits and footplay, but not vore or scat or anything weird like that" its like really? tons of people think herms and footplay is weird. but its different for everyone.
as far as expressing your strong dislike for a fetish, before you say how weird or gross something is, try thinking about it from their POV, because to them, its perfectly normal.

there are a lot of fetishes that gross me out (okay.. like two or three, i've been around here too much) but when they do, i keep my mouth shut.

i think that's where harrassing starts, so i - like some people should also do - just keep my opinion to myself.
i learned that "if you can't say anything nice, rather say nothing at all" (that does, of course, not apply for constructive criticism)
luckily, i've only ever received a handfull of those comments, but i know they're annoying and hurtfull, because they're completely useless.
we all have at least one fetish or fantasy that isn't going well with the general public, and unless there's another person (or animal) hurt, there's no harm done in thinking or even acting on them.
people need to relax about these things...

Cubs, guro and Rape fetishes. Sure, art is just art BUT... I think if you're turned on by it, it's wrong like you might go out to live your "fantasy" in the real world and become a sex offender/serial killer and/or rapist.
That's the only thing I see wrong with it. That worry in the back of my mind that it might turn them on so much they might want to carry out the act just to get off on it. It's been in some cases of rapists and murderers that they do indeed have records of pornography including snuff and rape and they believe that is where the idea was implanted.
As for Vore and inflation and stuff like that, I just don't get what's hot about it... but I just let it go.
All and all, my opinion on fetishes is this: just keep it to yourself. If you don't want hate or people screaming at you just don't go parading it around.

It isn't 'wrong' to simply like what you like. I don't choose to enjoy these things, they are simply things that I've seen and instead of reeling from them, I found them interesting. That doesn't mean I want to go out and rape or murder people. I LIKE people, and I'm really a very kind person. I wouldn't hurt anyone for any reason, it's against my beliefs to do anything that infringes upon another's health or happiness, but that doesn't mean that in fantasy it isn't enjoyable. No real people were harmed and they won't be.
