I plan to be at MFF and would attend a SIG for Mustelids, but overall, I do not plan to spend much time within the conventional hall. Unless I quit my job and lose the time I have scheduled off in Nov., I should be there.
I am flattered by this, especially considering that I have only posted one slightly scientific journal to date on my Family Mustelidae group. It was not a bad journal for only taking just over an hour to write, but it is far from what I had hoped to accomplish with the group. Curses to my severe lack of free time these days.
Anyhow, I have acquired some great Mustelid knowledge over the years and I have quite the collection of images, articles, stories, etc., etc. and though I would love to share those with fellow Mustelid furs, probably my biggest weakness is public speaking. This Wolverine, other than having the Internet and a small number of real friends, which I can count on one hand, is very reclusive. I just do not do well speaking to or interacting with people. Casual conversation is often okay, but when things get serious and knowledge is tested, my mind races and confuses all the facts. The last time I had to give a speech, I beleive it was for a sociology class in college in 2004, even with the fucking notes in my hand, I spat out garbage and confused all the facts. I really do not like to be the center of attention. The Internet is one thing because I can take my time when posting, get the facts right and edit when needed, but real life is another. I admit to having ADD and most people are not going to take well to my silence as my head races and processes all the data I need to say. Now, I am sure that this would be a more relaxed setting, but I do not know if it will make a difference. The last thing I want is to be a shaky wreck and to spit out utter nonsense. But, I suppose if there are a few questions people want answered or subjects people want to talk about, I could give it a shot. Just know that I am not a zoologist or a public speaker. Anything I know comes from what I read.
I would really like to see what Forlorn suggested. I would really like to see what makes Mustelid furs tick. Why are we Mustelids? How are we all living? What do we do for work? What do we do for RnR? How energetic are we from day to day? What are we listening to? Etc. etc. One of the first journals I posted in my group, was of course that huge survey. It was probably too large and thus, the turnout was poor, and though I did read all the answers, I never got around to tallying/posting the results. I think it would be very interesting to see how much we have in common with one another.
Anyhow, I would certainly like to meet and greet fellow Mustelids so I would attend a Mustelids panel if there was one, but as far as presenting a piece or speaking my mind on a certain topic(s), I am not so sure. I appreciate you considering me, but the speaking is just not in my nature.
I'd be interested to see what characteristics mustelids share, if any... I've already noticed an unusually high propensity for enjoying prog rock among our slinky brethren.
