What happened to the art of the written word?

I ask you. What happened? I can't point to a single young person that enjoys reading- despite all the texting and typing they do. They want to rush through everything, they don't want to absorb the atmosphere or grasp the wit of things.
If it isn't retarded luls or action packed violence they don't give a fuck. Don't try to get them to read a book or enjoy a game for it's story, you'll be wasting your breath.
Hell, half of my generation is like that.
Now, I'm not a hypocrite, I love those things too and I admit it, but god damn. There's more to things than two second thrills.
Half the people I enccounter can't even type half decent on the inernet. I mean, we all have our words we screw up, but that's not what I'm talking about and you know it.
Soon it may all be grunts, videos, and pictures.
