i.s.o. Volume 2 bonus story (In Search Of Hidden Treasure)
Greetings all.
So let's clear out some of those entries.
At any rate, with the release of i.s.o. Vol 1, I was used to getting feedback (good and bad, honestly) over Livejournal. However, perhaps since the Vol 1 bonus story had a guest author (
ArmoredCarp), people seemed shyer about discussing that storyline on LJ... but starting a thread here on FA got more comments.
I realize it's only been a monthish since the release, but it seems plenty of people have mentioned buying Vol 2 online through Sofawolf. So, I just thought I'd see if anyone had any comments on the bonus story, penned by R. Smith (who currently has no FA account). Thumbs up? Thumbs down? I'm honestly quite curious since it was a different author and it had no online preview before its release. It's purposely unrelated to the main story and another attempt at a completely adventure-based romp. I won't deny I was a tad rushed to meet the deadline, but I think it works better read at once than the piecemeal way I had to create it (tax season and all).
Anyone? Anyone? Thanks!
Vince

I wonder if they've REALLY worked on that Anti-outfluff for Cody? Even though it was just a dream. *grins*
I give it a thumbs up.
I dunno, perhaps some kind of antistatic implant.
Excellent!
If his dream comes true, then Cody wouldn't be fluffly, cuddly putty-tat we LOVE to torture. XD
Yer very welcome V. *bearhugs*
I got both Vol 1. and Vol.2 from this year´s AC and I´m glad that I finally got them to read ^^
Hehe hopefully there will be more bonus stories or spinoffs from i.s.o characters in future ^^
Um...nothing in the foreseeable future, I'm afraid ^ ^;;
And yeah, Nate's a lot of fun to work with
Poor Randall XD
To the story itself it made me chuckle more than once since all the references to recent games and movies (not quite sure if I got all those^^;), but when I first read it, it confused me because everything was more sci-fi than all the other chapters. Which was good for a change actually <3
So a thumb up from me :3
Frankly I'm not sure *I* got all of them XD There's a few where I had to look it up and go along with it.
Yeah, I figured a change of pace would be a bit jarring, but that's why I tried to place it during the main storyline breaks.
Thx!
Okay, I keep telling myself I want to buy these books, but I also keep telling myself that I want to save as much money as possible for Rainfurrest, in case there's something there that I MUST HAVE NOW.
So, tell me this: are they going to be on sale at Rainfurrest? 'Cause if so, then I can appease both of these impulses when I get there.
And confidentially I'm planning to make a brief appearance there myself
...
...Okay, I've never geek-squealed before, but the idea that I may have the chance to meet you in person is about as close as destiny has ever thus far gotten to successfully pushing that reaction out of me.
So, while you're there, if you happen to spot a guy in a Cloudkicker outfit(provided I finish the glider in time, 'cause that's the single most unique thing about the character), please do feel free to say hello. I promise I won't take any photos without permission.
So, wait, you're not going to be wearing any pants? That should make it easy to find you
It's my first RF so I'm sure I'll be a bit lost, but I'll keep an eye out for you!
*face-palm* Logic-play puns are a family tradition for me, so I really should'a seen that coming; why didn't I?
No, I'm going to need some cargo pants to hold my camera stuff(the actual camera will of course be hanging from my wrist at all times ), but once I get the glider finished, I'll see about finding some of a similar color as my mask.
...It'll be my first, too, actually, so I'll probably be in the same boat; thankfully, I'm almost as good a navigator as the character I'll be dressed as, so provided I have ready access to a map, I shouldn't have too much trouble getting un-lost.
And I think I still owe you a PM, don't I??
And that is entirely possible, but no rush!
Randall was a lot more fun and enjoyable to have around than I expected him to be (and not so bad at the eye candy either!), but the highlight of the issue had to be Nate--getting to see him so much in such a big role, but also his many one-liners, hilarious moments, naughty moments, and more. I have to agree with him so much about big beefy geeks. :D The ending was a delicious bit of revenge and a beautiful way to help the three guys get some well-earned happiness. I also loved the Chekov's Gun with Nate's search for a cheater and the mysterious hockey puck they found. It all tied together so well, the story was quite well plotted and structured.
Fave moments:
-Nate's horn, and Cody's commentary about it that got them thrown out
-"Wrong turn at Albuquerque" Looney Tunes FTW, and now Randall reminds me even more of Foghorn Leghorn
-Giant hair-dried fluffball Cody ROTFL
-The conversational troping "It's like we're in a bad 80's horror/porn flick"
-Randall slapping Cody's ass
-Randall using Nate as a hockey puck
-"Would you rather wait till he's gotten to second base?"
-The clothes-cutting lasers, Nate's reaction at the prospect, and his subsequent disappointment
-And of course, the final line. Which we all know could never come true thanks to the Frost family genes. (Odd though that Cody wasn't picturing the doctor as a shirtless hunk too. Guess he REALLY is fed up with that fluff!)
It was fun showcasing those two, though. Nate definitely needed more airtime, and Randall turned out to be more fun that I thought. R. Smith is quite big on plot intricacies, so yeah, it was cool how he tied it all out at the end.
LOL. Oh man, Randall would, I say, would NOT like to hear that XD
I suppose in retrospect a hot doctor would be a true test of de-fluffing XD But with the hot chick and the hot Dev, I figured the best for Cody would be a neutral doc
Glad you liked
garrard.
(gent garrard)
No plans at the moment. Pretty worn out. *If* I ever do pick it up again, something tells me I'd focus more on other characters.
I'm honestly not entirely sure I'll make AC next year. :-/ Will have to see...
Thankee muchly though :-D Tease? Moi?
